And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
James 5:15

Read: Ephesians 6:16-18
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Spiritual warfare is an invisible battle that is waged in the spirit realm. The enemies cannot be seen with the physical eyes and the weapons of warfare are not physical as well. What is even more significant is that it is what happens spiritually that determines the physical manifestation that will be experienced by humans. A person overpowered in a spiritual war may become sick, paralyzed, or mad in the real world. Many that are attacked at night may develop an incurable sickness that will lead to their death within days. Some may be physically alright health-wise, but may begin to operate under a terrible demonic bondage that hampers growth of any kind, and this may go on for years unnoticed. These are prisoners living within invisible prison walls while appearing to be normal and free. Isaiah 49:25 says:

“But thus saith the Lord, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, And the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: For I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, And I will save thy children.”

The worst type of imprisonment is being within invisible prison walls while appearing to be free. Nobody will offer to help you out because there will be nothing physical to suggest that you are imprisoned. The lame man in Acts 3:1-18, was physically born into a prison of sickness and was there for over 40 years, he was in a physical prison, obvious to everyone, but most people are in spiritual prisons, invisible prisons. One of my uncles, who studied in Britain returned, and in an attempted to protect himself from forces of darkness, went to meet an herbalist and obeyed the man’s instructions to the letter. He got seven leaves of a particular plant, spread them on the floor and defecated on them. thereafter, the herbalist gave him a particular power to spray on his faeces and instructed him to eat it. After this, he returned home boasting that since nobody touches faeces, nobody could touch him. He almost died of cholera! Some professors, despite all their Western education, still bow to trees and worship various objects because they are in a spiritual prison. A medical doctor who knows and teaches people about the danger of smoking but still smokes himself is imprisoned spiritually.
It is not enough to point accusing fingers at somebody somewhere, consider your life and find out if there is any trace of imprisonment. Prayerfully take steps to break loose from it. When you are free from physical and invisible prisons, then you are truly free.

Prayer Point
Father, please break every prison wall around me in Jesus’ name.

Open Heavens Daily Devotional Messages. Date: Tuesday December 6th 2016. Topic: LOVE: AN ANTIDOTE FOR DEATH

We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. 1st John 3:14

Read: 1st John 3:9-11
9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
11 For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.

The first attribute that becomes noticeable in a genuinely born-again child of God is the love for God and humanity. Every converted and renewed child of God operates under the control of the Holy Spirit, he is fully aware of new spiritual experiences and desires, as the Holy Spirit kick-starts the work of character restoration in him. A loving relationship between a Christian and Jesus therefore provides the most credible evidence of the grace of God at work in the life of a believer. God.
We all know that true lovers always enjoy each other’s company and fellowship. When one lover has an opportunity to spend time with the other, and for any reason misses that opportunity, he becomes sad. God loves to fellowship with man and this has been so from the very beginning. God created man to fellowship with Him; this is the major reason why He created us in His image. He enjoyed coming to meet and fellowship with Adam in the cool of the day. How He cherished it! It became a daily appointment which He never missed. Then imagine His disappointment when He came one day and Adam was nowhere to be found. After that, God needed another person continue from where Adam had stopped. He kept searching until He found Enoch. Genesis 5:24 says:

“And Enoch walked with God; and he was not; for God took him.”

Enoch walked with God for at least 300 years! The fellowship was so intense that death could not touch him. God had to call him to glory to continue the fellowship there. The reverse is the case for anyone that hates God. Proverbs 8:36 says:

“But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: All they that hate me love death.”

Indeed, love is an antidote for death, if you truly love God and obey His commandments, death will be far away from you.  Do you love God? Do you have a regular time to fellowship with God? Some believers do not have a standing altar of fellowship with God as a family. This is wrong; God wants to be intimate with you. Open yourself and your whole household to God, and create time for regular fellowship with Him today.

Prayer Point
Father, please help me to love You with all my heart, soul and spirit in Jesus’ name.

Open Heavens Daily Devotional Messages. Date: Sunday 4th December 2016. Topic: Satan’s delicacy?

Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.
Hebrews 12:16

Read: Daniel 1:6-8
6 Now among these were of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah:
7 Unto whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names: for he gave unto Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to Azariah, of Abednego.
8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

The word ‘delicacy’ is commonly used to describe a food item that is considered highly desirable and usually scarce and expensive. Delicacies often have unusual characteristics, flavours and tastes, thereby attracting the interest of the high and mighty in the society.
Meanwhile, the devil uses a delicacy as a potent weapon to bring down his human targets, and it was proven an effective weapon over the years. He successfully used it against Adam and Eve, Esau, etc. However, Godly people like Daniel know that delicacies have the potential to defile a child of God, especially when offered as bait from the devil. I pray that you will never fall for any attractive proposition of the devil in Jesus’ name.

“The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.”
Psalms 19:8

When oil is pure, it makes the lamp burn brightly. When a candle light burns, and it comes across something impure, it suddenly goes dim, or off. If you do not want to dim or quench the Spirit of God in you, keep off every form of defilement. Evil thoughts will hinder the free move of God in your life. Acts of disobedience, self-will and insubordination to authority are capable of putting out the fire of the Spirit in you.
Christians are the brides of Christ, therefore, God expects us to maintain our purity. Psalms 119:1 says:
“Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD.”
The undefiled resists temptation and is without sin like Jesus was (Hebrews 4:15). If you want to remain undefiled, you must watch against the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life (1st John 2:15-17). To be undefiled, you must remain in God’s way, keeping His commandments. God’s Word and instructions must be the laws governing your life. Are you undefiled? How pure are you? No matter how pure or undefiled you may be; there is room to press forward for a greater, higher and closer walk with God. Are you ready to pant after more of God in your life?

Prayer Point
Lord Jesus, I refuse to fall for the devil’s trick, please help me to maintain my purity.

Open Heavens Daily Devotional Messages. Date: Saturday 3rd December 2016. Topic: Dealing with unclean spirits

He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
Mark 16:16

Read: Matthew 10:1
10:1  And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

Demons are fallen angels that were driven out of heaven because of their rebellious acts. The Bible presents demons as the authentic source of every manner of immorality in this world. Also, demons are the foot soldiers that the devil uses to steal, kill, devour and wreck all manner of evil against humanity. I pray that you will not become an easy prey to the devil and his demons in the Name of Jesus.
However, demons were subject to the authority of Jesus Christ during His earthly ministry and subsequently in the ministry of the Church. Demons and idols bow in the Presence of our God. If you study how demons related with Jesus Christ and His disciples in the Bible, you will observe that they recognized God’s Presence in Jesus Christ and his disciples, and they surrendered without argument. I have always told my spiritual children that if we have enough of His Presence in us, demons will flee when they sight us, how much more when we command them to go out. In Mark 5:1-6, when Jesus stepped on the shores of the Gadarenes, a very notorious, heavily demon-possessed mad man immediately reported to Him even before He said a word. It is very easy to cast out demons when your life is full of God’s glory. When Jesus came to earth, He brought with Him the glory and dominion of Heaven. Consequently, if demons see that same glory of God in you, they will have no choice but to submit to the King of Glory whose Presence you carry.
Until you carry a higher level of His Presence in your life, you may not realize the activities of demons in your environment. Believe it or not, they are everywhere, performing their negative assignments. But as God increases His Presence in your life, there will be commotions, because demons recognize the Presence of God and they won’t be at rest. Even in the church, while God’s anointed Word is being taught in power, demons will not be able to withstand the power. One day, Paul and is co-labourers in God’s vineyard were on their way to a prayer meeting when the spirit of divination in a young lady became restless because of God’s Presence. If only you carry a higher level of His Presence, the demons around you will manifest from wherever they are hiding. Ask God for more of His Presence upon you.

Prayer Point
Father, please baptize me with Your power today in Jesus’ name.

Open Heavens Daily Devotional Messages. Date: Friday 2nd December 2016. Topic: For His own pleasure

Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
Revelation 4:11

Read: 1st Peter 2:9-11
9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light;
10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

Bible records shows that God is not passive about His creation; He is dynamically involved in everything that happens in the universe. His interest and involvement can be seen in the history of Israel and in the ministry of Jesus Christ. In the present age, God’s activities and operations can be seen in the lives of believers and the Church. The Bible projected this in Colossians 1:16;

“For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:”

Revelation 4:11 further states that all things were created for God’s pleasure. In Moses’ story, God divinely chose the burning bush, after looking through all the available bushes around, He found pleasure in that particular one and decided to use it, just as He decided to locate the Redemption Camp on its present site. If I had been given the privilege to determine the location of our camp ground, it would never have been in its present location. I would have preferred a location much closer to Lagos. For those believers who obtained their spouses from God, if asked to make that choice personally, they most likely would have chosen someone else and would have missed God’s divine direction. Has the Lord chosen for you on any matter? Appreciate Him for His choice and go with that choice.
God is very much in the business of directing human affairs, and your choice in any matter can never produce a better result than His. God’s choice may not look like the best when human reasoning is applied. Whenever God chooses somebody for an assignment, it does not necessarily mean the fellow is the most qualified. In fact, usually, God chooses the least qualified so that flesh will not rob Him of His glory. However, when it pleases God to choose someone for a purpose, several activities begin to follow in quick succession, just as the choice of the burning bush culminated in the death of many Egyptians and the release of the children of Israel from slavery. Because the Lord has chosen you to be an heir to His heritage, He will cause all things to work in your favour to the fulfilment of your destiny in Jesus’ name.

Prayer Point
Father, please let Your mercy and favour locate me today in Jesus’ name.

Open Heavens Daily Devotional Messages. Date: Thursday 1st December 2016. Topic: His ears are not dull.

Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: Thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands.
Job 14:15

Read: Isaiah 59:1-3
1 Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:
2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
3 For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.

Alienation or banishment is a form of punishment in which a guilty person is expelled from a region and forbidden to return. Alienation is commonly used by God in the Bible to cut off sinners from His presence. A good example is the banishment of Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden as a result of their disobedience to God. I pray that you will never do anything that will cause God to cut you off from His Presence in Jesus’ name. Isaiah 59:1-2 says:
“Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; Neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, And your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.”
Christians today are daily challenging God by constantly indulging in acts that are clearly recorded as reasons for alienation in the Bible. For example, some people intentionally dress scantily on the street. Can you imagine somebody purchasing a nice pair of trousers, and deliberately using a blade to rip it to shred before certifying it ‘fit’ to wear? If you cannot clearly spell out what passes as decent Christian dressing for yourself and your household, then you are the one to be held responsible for the loose behaviour and excesses of your family members. This is tantamount to an open invitation to alienation or banishment from the Presence of God, which explains why some Christians suffer unexplained attacks from the devil. The Presence of God departs from such Christians, making them an easy target in the hands of the devil and his agents. May the Lord deliver every child of God in this category today in the Name of Jesus.
Indeed, the Lord’s Hands are not shortened, neither are His ears heavy that He cannot hear our cry for help. Sin is always responsible for alienation from God. In what ways has your weakness, carelessness, and nonchalant attitude contributed to sin and immorality in your family or the Church of God? Repent and make amends today before it is too late.

Prayer Point
Father, please help me to commit myself to a life of holiness and righteousness in Jesus’ name.

Memorise :

But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; 1 Corinthians 1:23

Read : 1 CORINTHIANS 1:21-24

21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:

23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR : Judges 3:7-4:24 and Mathew 24:36-25:13

When wise men from the East discovered the phenomenon that indicated the birth of Jesus, they abandoned everything they were doing and commenced an immediate search for Him ( Mathew 2:1-2). These were noble men who were feared and highly respected. They were of the priestly caste, and they were spiritual counsellors to the kings of their time. Yet, on hearing of the birth of Jesus, they decided to abandon their own wisdom and search for the superior wisdom of God manifested as Jesus. This is why I pity those who know the truth but allow foolishness to keep them in darkness. Romans 1:28 says this about such people:
‘And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;’

For this reason, everyone who comes into this world must make a decision to submit to the superiority of God’s wisdom which is personified by Jesus. To benefit maximally from this life, you must accept Jesus Christ as your Lord. He is willing to give you divine wisdom concerning all issues of life. He is ready to guide you into greatness. Don’t allow the devil to keep you in the foolishness of self-government. If you do, you will experience great loss and destruction especially in the world to come.

After a branch is severed from a tree, its leaves will still remain green, but it is only a matter of time before they wither and die. Is someone asking you to embrace the wisdom of the world? Is anyone asking you to forsake the congregation of the righteous? Are you been lured by religious sects with a promise that you will be free? You are only about to lose your freedom if you subscribe to such lies. It is only in Jesus Christ you can experience the true wisdom that brings freedom. If there is any place to search for wisdom, it is in Christ alone, because all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Him ( Colossians 2:3 ). The wisdom of God is like light that repels darkness on its arrival. When this wisdom comes into your life, every reproach automatically gives way. As a child of God, you must allow wisdom to control all that you do. When it appears things are not moving in the direction you expect, don’t try to ‘ help’ God; there is nothing beyond His wisdom. Don’t accept the alternatives of the devil, and don’t subscribe to the suggestions of men. The wisdom of God is the greatest of all wisdom.

Action Point :

Are you perplexed by any situation? Look to Jesus and ask God for wisdom on how to handle it.

Open Heavens 4 April 2015: Saturday daily devotion by Pastor E. A. Adeboye – The New Anointing Demonstrated

Topic: The New Anointing Demonstrated [Saturday April 4, 2015]

Memorise: And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing. – Isaiah 10:27

Read: Luke 5:1-11 (KJV)

1 And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret,

2 And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets.

3 And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon’s, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship.

4 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.

5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.

6 And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.

7 And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.

8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.

9 For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken:

10 And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men.

11 And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him.

Bible in One Year: Zechariah 1:1-5:4, Matthew 13:45-14:12

Just one encounter with the Holy Spirit can change your life. When Jesus Christ stepped into the life of Peter, his life never remained the same again. On that particular day, several yokes were broken in Peter’s life. The first one was the yoke of failure. A fisherman who catches no fish is a failure. You may have failed before now, but the moment the new anointing comes upon your life, you will become an all-round success. The second yoke broken in Peter’s life was the yoke of poverty. The moment the Anointed One got into his boat, his boat began to sink with blessings. For a reader of this devotional, God will embarrass you with His blessings. God in His own wisdom picks the person He chooses to anoint (Hebrew 2:4). After Saul fell out of the divine plan and purpose, the grace of God picked David. It is my prayer that you will not be among the rejected in Jesus’ Name. When the oil from God lands upon your head, every burden becomes lifted and the new anointing begins to destroy yokes you never knew existed around you.

Another yoke that was broken in the life of Peter was the yoke of frustration. He was a frustrated man. He threw his nets into the sea several times and he caught no fish. However, upon the appearance of Jesus Christ, he began to experience open doors that erased the setbacks of the past. The new anointing will put an end to your many years of labour and you will begin to operate in the favour of God (Psalm 102:13). Peter had been called by Jesus to be a fisher of men, but he did not fully enter into the divine destiny for his life until the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:14&41). What Peter could not achieve prior to this time came to pass at the set time of the new anointing.

Take time to pray for the new anointing so that you will not live as a shadow of your true self. Everything you touch begins to prosper when God is the one who has anointed you. He will stand behind you and ensure you never lose a battle. Those who thought you will end up begging are in for a shocker because what is not enough now is going to be more than enough tomorrow. It does not matter what anybody thinks, just ensure you are at peace with God and you will see how God prospers a person right in the midst of detractors.

Prayer Point: Father, anoint me afresh with the new anointing. Let me not live as a shadow of my true self in Jesus’ Name.

Memorise: From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus. Galatians 6:17
Bible Reading: 1st Timothy 6:11-14
Bible in one year: Amos 7:9; Matthew 9:27-10:15

A mark can be described as an impression, a distinguishing trait or quality. Marks indicate characteristics or symbols used for identification or indication of ownership. All heaven-bound Christians are children of God and by implication, belong to Christ (Mark 9:41, Romans 8:16). What are the marks of the Lord Jesus?

One distinguishing trait or quality that indicates one’s ownership by the Lord Jesus is faithfulness. Everyone belonging to Christ is expected to be faithful in prayer, in tithes and offerings, in studying the word of God, in their marital relationship, general human relations and in service to God. Are you a child of God? Be faithful to God, yourself and others. Your faithfulness allows God to reveals greater insights to you. Faithfulness beings opportunities to you that are not given to the unfaithful. God takes pleasure in answering prayers that come from a faithful heart. Another mark of the Lord Jesus is obedience to the will of God. Christ came to fulfil God’s perfect will for His life. Hebrews 10:7 says,

“Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.”
Are you living according to God’s perfect will for your life? Anything that brings shame or reproach to the Name of God is not God’s will for you. Are you involved in a business deal where it is required that you tell lies, engage in immorality and cut corners? That business venture should be reviewed.  It is probably not God’s perfect will for your life. As a spouse, are you obedient to the will of God in your marriage through fidelity, submission and love?

Affiliated to obedience is love. Love is another mark of the Lord Jesus. John 13:1 says,
“Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that His hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.”
God is love. The love of God is what indicates that you belong to Christ. You should be able to demonstrate true love of God and man. Love is a benevolent disposition of the mind towards fellow-Christians, growing out of sincere and fervent devotion to God. Indicators of love include kindness, selflessness, humility, self-discipline and purity. Love can endure evil, injury and provocation without being filled with resentment, indignation or revenge. Love is benevolent, bountiful, courteous, and obliging. Love suppresses envy: it is not grieved by the good of others. Finally, love controls and restrains passions. Do you bear in you the marks of the Lord Jesus?

Prayer point:
Father, I submit myself to the Lordship of Jesus Christ; let His marks be seen in my life.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR : AMOS 4:6-6:14 and
MATHEW 9:9-26

Every rational being wishes to be healthy,
wealthy, fulfilled and enjoy longevity. The desire
to live long and be healthy is scriptural. Psalm
91:16 says,
‘With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my
Man is a tripartite being. The Bible teaches that
man consists of the spirit, soul and body. God is
interested in our good health ( 3 John 1:2). He
desires for us to be sound and complete in our
spirit, soul and body. The working of wholeness in
man starts in his spirit. It begins when God
touches our spirit by the Holy Ghost ( 1
Corinthians 12:3 ). Has your spirit been touched
by the Holy Spirit? The first miracle God does is
to liberate man’s spirit from sin. He justifies us
from sin and reconnects our spirit man to Himself
( 1 Corinthians 6:11 ). He then continually bears
witness with our spirit that we are God’s Children
( Romans 8:16). After releasing our spirit from
sin, the Holy Spirit works His way to our soul to
heal and restore it. The soul of man is the seat of
his emotions, intellect and will. The soul is the
dwelling place of healthy and unhealthy emotions.
It is thus possible for the soul to be healthy or
The human body is that part of man which is
aware of and interacts with the tangible, empirical
world. The whole body of man is built around a
bony framework of skeleton and consists of great
number of different parts. The human body
consist primarily of cells, which together form
tissues, which form organs, which work together
as systems to carry out specific functions. It is
worth noting that healthy living guarantees
longevity. To enjoy longevity, you need to eat
proper balanced diets. Experts in nutrition teach
that our foods can be classified into two classes.
One class consists of fruits and vegetables. The
other class consists of fat, starch and proteins. A
proper balance of these two classes of food will
provide good health and a long life. An improper
balance will bring poor health, sickness and can
result in early death. Fruit and vegetables provide
vitamins and minerals. Proteins supply building
blocks for the body. Fats and starch supply heat
and energy to the body. According to many health
books, we should eat 75% fruits and vegetables,
while 25% should be protein, fats and starch .
This 75:25 ratio should form the basis of the daily
diet of every living person. To obtain and
maintain good health, you must eat foods that
contains generous amounts of vitamins and
minerals. Food low in vitamins and minerals lead
to poor health, ailments, suffering and death.
Enjoying longevity in good health is however not
limited to the food you eat . Your state of mind
and pattern of life can either accelerate or slow
down the aging process. These also affect your
good health. In addition, learn to exercise your
body. Don’t forget: ‘ bodily exercise profiteth

Action Point :
Take stock of how you are treating your body.
Adjust your nutrition and lifestyle if necessary.

Memorise :
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye
transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye
may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and
perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2

9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear
heard, neither have entered into the heart of man,
the things which God hath prepared for them that
love him.
10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his
Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the
deep things of God.
11 For what man knoweth the things of a man,
save the spirit of man which is in him? even so
the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit
of God.
12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the
world, but the spirit which is of God; that we
might know the things that are freely given to us
of God.
13 Which things also we speak, not in the words
which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the
Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things
with spiritual.
14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of
the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto
him: neither can he know them, because they are
spiritually discerned.

One striking thing about holiness is that it is
what makes God who He is. If a human being
was asked this question: ‘ Who is God?’, you
might get the answers like: God is love, God is
powerful, God is merciful, God is faithful etc. But if
Angels or celestial beings were asked the same
question, they would chorus: God is Holy! The
theme of the songs of celestial beings in Heaven
is the holiness of God ( Isaiah 6:2-3, Revelation
4:8 ). Do you belong to God? Then be prepared to
live holy. Why? God’s people are a holy temple of
Him ( 1 Corinthians 3:17 ). We are called to a
holy priesthood ( 1 Peter 2:5 ), and we are
described as holy brethren ( Hebrew 3:1). The
father chose His own, so that they might be holy
( Ephesians 1:4). This is the reason why Jesus
died for us ( Ephesians 5:25-27). The Holy Spirit
was given, so that through the renewing of minds,
we might be holy ( Titus 3:5, 2 Corinthians 3:18).
The Holy Spirit renews our mind by convincing us
and making us accept what God’s Word says
about us or about a subject-matter. This is
critical because your mind controls your actions.
The Word of God is spiritual; only the Holy Spirit
can bring the mind to a state of conformity with
its contents ( 1 Corinthians 2:14)
Holiness simply means obeying God totally and
consecrating yourself to His will from the heart. It
is difficult to do God’s will without knowing His
mind. The Bible, which is the word of God, is a
compendium of God’s will. It is easy to know the
mind of God and renew your own mind when you
meditate on the Word of God. This meditation
should however be a daily affairs. It is imperative
for every child of God to study and meditate on
God’s word. Merely reading the word of God is
different from studying and serious meditation.
Studying is an application of the mental faculties
to the acquisition of knowledge. It entails a
careful examination or analysis of the Bible – its
promises, commandments, warnings, blessings,
questions and answers. Meditation on God’s word
denotes focusing one’s thought on it, reflecting on
and pondering over it. In Joshua 1:8, Joshua was
instructed to meditate on the word of God day
and night because constant meditation leads to
good success. This happens progressively. First,
meditate on God’s word on daily basis. Second,
be observant enough to obey it unconditional.
Doing this will assure you of hood success; i e.
full- blown success that is holistic, covering every
imaginable area of life ( spirit, soul and body ).
Renewing your mind makes it possible to discern
what the perfect will of God is ( Romans 12:2).
Do you desire to know the perfect will of God for
every aspect of your life? Renew your mind
through constant studying and mediation on the
word of God. Keep God’s word in your heart,
allow it to permeate your entire being through the
Holy Spirit and act on it.

Prayer Point :
Dear Holy Spirit , as I ponder on God’s word, help
my mind to accept the truth of what it says.

O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come.
Psalm 65:2

Read: Matthew 7:7-11
7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

If Christians can master the art and practice of prayer, this world will definitely become a better place to live in for them. Someone described prayer as a paradox. It is both simple and complex. It is the simplest form of speech that infant lips can try, and the sublime strains that reach the Majesty on high. What is prayer? John Bunyan, while in Bedford Prison, defined prayer as “a sincere, sensible, affectionate pouring out of the heart or soul to God, through Christ, in the strength and assistance of the Holy Spirit, for such things as God had promised according to the Word for the good of the Church, with submission, in faith, to the will of God.” Our God is a prayer-answering God. It is God’s will to answer the prayers of His children. However, He operates on principles. There are conditions which activate the answering of prayers by God. These I will refer to as keys to answered prayers. Are you a child of God? It is the desire of your Father to answer all of your prayers (John 16:23). If your prayers are not being answered, look inward. Are you employing the appropriate keys to answered prayers?

One of such keys is contrition (2 Chronicles 7:14). Contrition describes a state of feeling or showing of sorrow and remorse for a sin or shortcoming. Do you want your prayers answered? Examine your relationship with the Lord. Are there sins not confessed in your life? Psalm 66:18 says,
“If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:”
Approach God with humility and confess your sins, iniquities and shortcomings to Him. Repent of them and ask for forgiveness. Another key to answered prayers is whole-heartedness (Jeremiah 29:13). This has to do with your commitment and intimacy. How committed are you to the Almighty God and to His work? How intimate is your relationship with God and His Word? John 15:7 says,
“If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.”

Do you want all your prayers answered? Be a doer of the word and not a hearer only. The next key to answered prayers is faith. Faith is one of the most important factors required for prayers to be answered (Mark 11:24). How strong is your faith? To receive anything from God, you must believe that you have received what you asked for and then you will have it. The fourth key to answered prayers is righteousness (John 9:31). Simply put, righteousness denotes acting in accordance to the divine nature and being free from the guilt of sin. A righteous person is morally upright. Such a person abstains from all appearances of evil. The last (but not the least) key to answered prayers is that you must ask in order to receive (Matthew 7:7).

Action Point:
Do you have any unanswered prayer? Apply the keys to answered prayers to it today.

Memorise: Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, eudureth all things. 1st Corinthians 13:7
Bible Reading: 1st Corinthians 13:1-13, Bible in one year: Hosea 6:10, Mathew 6:16-34

Our God is wonderful, and He has many wonderful attributes. Some of these attributes are unique to Him alone. For example, in all of heaven and earth, God is the only one who is all-knowing, all-powerful and is present everywhere. However, there are other attributes which God, as a wonderful Father, shares with His children. Some of such attributes are holiness, mercy, faithfulness and love. These attributes are scarce in the character of present-day society. Just like the Corinthians in the days of Paul, many homes, communities and churches nowadays are torn apart by contentions, are divided along party lines and are envious of each other. Such character proves that the love for God and love towards fellow man is wanting. Love is paramount to God. Our numerous gifts and abilities are nothing in the eyes of God without love.

“Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.”
1John 4:7

Love should be differentiated from lust. While lust is impatient to get, love is always eager to give. John 3:16 describes true love:
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
This is the kind of love God expects from us. True love means have strong affection or deep tender feelings towards God, towards yourself and towards others. It means to love the way God loves. It implies knowing and worshipping God rightly, seeing yourself the way God sees you and caring for others the way God cares for you. Without true love, all gifts (however excellent) are useless in the eyes of God. A person who has outstanding gift such as the divine ability to speak many languages, the gift of prophecy and understanding all mysteries and knowledge, and the faith to remove mountains is nothing without true love. In the like manner, sacrifice, no matter how expensive, profits nothing without true love (1st Corinthians 13:3).

Because true love is a commandment of God (1st John 4:21), you need it in order to enjoy the blessings of God (Isaiah 1:19). Know also that without demonstrating true love, it is impossible to make heaven. True love is praised in 1st Corinthians 13:4-7. It is slow to anger and not predisposed to revenge. It is patient and forbearing, good natured, gentle, tender and affectionate. True love is never harsh or rude; it is polite and courteous. It is prompt in giving due respect to superior and in showing respect for their opinions. True love is humble and unselfish. It does not seek its own happiness to the injury of others. Do you have true love?

Prayer point:
Father, please grant me the grace to demonstrate true love.

Memorise: For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. Hebrews 12:6
Bible Reading; Hebrews 12:4-6,
Bible in one year: Daniel 9:10, Matthew 4:23-5:20

Christians are spiritual soldiers. We engage in constant warfare against principalities, powers and wicked spiritual forces that operate in high places. Ephesians 6:12 says that:

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
There is a tendency among Christians therefore to view anything unpleasant that happens to them as emanating from spiritual warfare. When a difficult suitation arises, many immediately ask God to remove their distress. It is worth noting that not all problems that we face as believers have something to do with the devil or the spiritual warfare we are engaged in. In Galatians 6:7, the Scripture says,
“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”
Some hardship, difficulties and unpleasant happenings arises as a result of sin, disobedience, pride or other shortcomings that call for disciplinary action from our Heavenly Father. Sin frequently attracts punishment. Sin can be described as transgression or non-conformity to the law of God in our inward or outward conduct of life, whether by omission or by commission. The Bible indicates that sin justly deserves punishment and that it calls down the righteous judgment of God (Romans 6:23). Various kinds of sins are mentioned in the Scriptures. These includes presumptuous sin, secret or hidden sin and sin against the Holy Ghost.

Presumptuous sins refer to defiant acts of sin. These are sins committed on the basis of assumption. Some people steal, tell lies, commit fornication or adultery, forge documents or engage in other evil acts. When such people are confronted with God’s view on their waywardness and its implications, they argue that God understands. They assume that God is too holy and kind to send a sinner to Hell-fire. Presumptuous sin is dangerous. God is a God of both love and of judgment (1st John 4:8, Hebrews 10:31). King David wisely prayed that God should keep him from presumptuous sins (Psalm 19:13). Secret sins are sins which escape the notice of the soul. Many people commit sins without being conscious of it. These also attract divine judgement and chastisement. What such people need is repentance and deliverance. David also prayed that God should cleanse him form secret sins (Psalm 19:12). The last but not the least is sin against the Holy Ghost or what is referred to as “sin unto death” (Matthew 12:31-32, 1st John 5:16). This is a wilful rejection of grace. Are you facing unpleasant happenings? Look inward. God’s expectation from chastising is repentance.

Action Point:
Examine yourself to see if there is any presumptuous or hidden sin in your life.

Memorise: After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward. Genesis 15:1
Bible Reading: Genesis 41:38-43,
Bible in one year: Daniel 7:9-8:27, Matthew 4:1-22

Vision is the strategy of progress and a determinant of destiny. Vision is no doubt one of the most powerful forces available to man on earth today. It gives meaning to life, keeps us alive and conditions our lives. Visions inspired the Greeks to produce philosophy and art that still impacts the thinking of our world. It motivated the great Roman Empire to expand its influence and develop the known world. Vision inspired the explorers who circumvented the globe and ignited the creation and expansion of many of the nations we know today. It is your vision that determines your destiny. Proverbs 29:18 says,
“When there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepth the law, happy is he.”

True vision is not based on what a person sees with the physical eyes alone, but on the images seen with the inward eyes of the mind. A man of vision sees what God has planned for him before its fulfilment. Vision entails planning and goal-setting. Every great person in history owned a personal vision. A man with no vision is at best a living corpse. He desires nothing and achieves nothing. Is your life directed by a clear vision? Do you know your potential for fulfilling this vision? Have you developed a concrete plan for your vision? What active steps have you taken towards the fulfilments of your vision? Do you recognise people’s influence on your vision? These are all questions you need to answer if you will leave your prints on the sand of time. When you begin to act on your vision, it will stir up both those who want to help you and those who want to hinder you. How passionate are you about your vision? Vision requires faith for fulfilment. Have you built up the faith necessary for the fulfilment of your God-given vision? And most importantly, what is the source of your vision?

In addition to true vision, God’s people live by revelation. A Christian is expected to operate on a God-given vision and by revelation. Christianity is an intimate growing relationship with the persons of Jesus Christ. Every child of God should therefore live by the revelation of the Word. We should live by what the Word of God says. God expects you to arrange your life based on His Word, regardless of whether it makes sense to you or not, and regardless of whether it is convenient or not. God knows what is best for your future, your family, your church and your country. He wants to reveal what is on His heart to you, if only He can get your attention. He expects you to diligently pursue your vision and the revelations He drops in your spirit. Actualising your vision and the revelation God gives you requires diligence, integrity, focus, good human relations, prayer and faith. How prepared are you to live by these?

Action point:
Dust up that vision or revelation God gave you so long ago and diligently run with it.

Memorise: If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet. John 13:14
Bible Reading: Daniel 2:46-49
Bible in one year: Daniel 5:13-7:8, Matthew 2:19-3:17

Daniel purposed in his heart not to partake of the king’s meat (Daniel 1:8). He denied himself all the goodies associated with classical palatial living because he wanted to make a difference among his peers. Anyone who aspire to be a leader must be self-disciplined, carefully choose the kind of people he or she associates with and must consciously cultivate habits that will distinguish him or her Like Daniel, leaders must fear God and be prayerful, respect authority, be diligent testimonies, young David was diligent in keeping his father’s flock, and God rewarded him with a kingdom (1st Samuel 17:34-35). The way Joshua and Caleb delivered a minority report after returning from their assignment is a good example of how to have the right attitude when confronted with challenges (Number 14:6-8). Their level of faith in the Lord God determined their attitude and degree of courage. They admitted that indeed there were giants in the land and the walls were tall, but they confessed that the Lord would deliver the enemies into their hands. No wonder at age 85, Caleb could say, “Give me this mountain!” (Joshua 14:12). He knew it was not by his frail power or might but by the spirit of God. That is an attitude fired by faith.
A good leader is a regenerated, distinguished personality (John 3:3). Because he draws his energy and inspiration from the Word of God, he therefore mediates on it habitually. The Word of God dwells in him richly, and he takes delight in living a righteous life. He is conscious of the right people to associate with, and he walks in the perfect will of God. He is one who makes a difference among his peers, and must have been a good and consistent follower. He is a man of great and mighty vision, who remains focused at all times. He is a selfless and courageous champion and fire for God, a go-getter, very humble and willing to learn from others. When the young Joseph caught the vision of his future greatness, he developed the right attitude to remain focused. His attitude was spiced with integrity. He focused to be distracted, not even by the juicy mouth-watering offer of his master’s wife.

Leadership by example can be summarised with two words: “GOOD SUCCESS” (Joshua 1:8). Because a good leader is connected to his source – God, he is ever fruitful, ever buoyant, ever prosperous, ever peaceful and ever joyful. Simply put, good leadership guarantees a holistic fulfilled life which in turn rubs off on any given human system.

Key point:
You cannot lead successfully if you have failed as a follower.

Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
John 15:14

Read: John 15:13-15
13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

There are believers who know God, and there are those who claim to know God. Those who are friends of God will go all the way to do as He commands, no matter the sacrifice and pain required. In Genesis 5:22-24, it was repeated twice that Enoch walked with God. He walked with God to the point of no return. The friendship was so tight that God had to tell him, “There is no point remaining on earth again; let us continue our friendship in heaven!” God and Enoch were lovebirds. A young boy in a Sunday School class gave an interesting perspective of this friendship. This boy said, whenever God visited Enoch and He was about to leave, Enoch will escort God, and when it was time for Enoch to return home, God would do the same. Eventually, one day, after several repetitions of this exercise, Enoch escorted God so close to Heaven that God told him to walk with Him into Heaven.
As childish as this may sound, there are lots of lessons and revelations in what this boy said. The desire to maintain intimate friendship with man has been there with God from the very beginning of creation. God is looking for people to bless; people who will do His will and enjoy His benefits. To partner with the Almighty God, you must dislodge certain traits in your life. All those things that are capable of limiting the closeness of your relationship with your Maker must be taken care of.

Do you want to enjoy the kind of relationship that existed between God and Abraham? Do you want to be a friend of God? Then it is time to sit up. It is time to get serious with your salvation. You can’t be a friend of God when you are still tolerating some nonsense in your life, because God cannot behold iniquity. After 24 years of lack of seriousness, God warned Abraham to sit up. No more Lot. No more hanging around with Hagar. There is no one who partners with God and remains the same. They become role models. If you desire a meaningful relationship with God, you can no longer be fooling around with that strange woman. You can no longer be courting that wrong relationship. You cannot afford to continue going where unbelievers meet to entice one another to sin (Psalm 1:1). No more lukewarmness and spiritual slothfulness (Revelation 3:15-16). No more disloyalty or lack of commitment.
You must be ready to go all the way. If your love for Him will count at all, it must put a demand on your heart, might and strength. No more helping yourself with church resources kept in your trust. No more seduction of young girls. No more jealousy or envying your colleagues. No more hatred for others. No more cheating of God in the payment of your tithes and offerings. No more using substandard materials when you have been mobilised to buy the best. No more pulling others down simply because you want to climb up.

Key point
Those who love God will never recover from His blessings.

Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
Hebrews 1:4

Read: Acts 4:6-12
6 And Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem.
7 And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this?
8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,
9 If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole;
10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Whenever brand names are mentioned in the society, people know without wasting time what they represent. These names serve as the identity of the entity they represent. With this in mind, let us look at the Name of Jesus. The Name of Jesus has several significant attibutes. One of these is that it carries power. This power is so special because it is unlimited. The Name of Jesus has the answer to every difficulty of life. It is the only Name through which salvation can be guaranteed (Acts 4:12). The Name of Jesus grants you access to His person (Mark 10:47-49). This special access will turn your life around. If there is any reason why many people are going round in circles, or things seem not to be working for them despite their efforts, it is because of the absence of Jesus in their lives. When you have Jesus, you have everything. When you have Jesus, you can tell the powers of this world to take the world and leave you with Jesus. If you have the whole world and you don’t have Jesus, you are of all men most miserable.

What kind of power is there in the Name of Jesus? The power of the anointing, the power to deliver, the power to become relevant in the scheme of things, the power to win souls and the power to be committed in the service of the kingdom: all these are found in His Name. Without the power in His Name, there is no safety or fortification for believers. In Acts 19:11-17, certain exorcists tried to exercise dominion over demons by His name, while they lacked a relationship with His person. They suffered tremendously and were placed where they belonged. If you attempt to do anything significant in life without the power of Jesus, you can be sure it won’t succeed, and if it is permitted to succeed, you will realise that it won’t be sustained. What are you desperate for? Do you desire to prosper, achieve success, be anointed and be relevant? Then you have to come under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

Jesus is the original kingmaker (Revelation 1:5-6). He can make you a king on earth and establish your authority. He can also make you rule as a king in His kingdom which has no end. His mandate is to save us from our sins, and for Him, there is no one whose life is irredeemable. There is power in the Name of Jesus to break every chain. Are you going through any form of sorrow at the moment and you are finding it difficult to come out of it? It could be because you have refused to receive the person of Jesus. You cannot have Jesus and have sorrow. Are there certain forces around you whose activities are having a negative effect on your destiny? You have to cry to Jesus so that in His Name, every force working against the will of God for your life will be frustrated. The power in the Name of Jesus gives the anointing such that, even in the midst of your enemies and detractors, nothing will hinder your progress, peace and boldness.

Prayer Point
Father, as I call upon the excellent Name of Jesus, let excellence be found in my life.

Memorise: And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. Joel 2:25
Bible Reading: 2nd Kings 6:1-7,
Bible in one year: Daniel 1:1-2:30, Revelations 22

In our scripture reading today, we see someone felling a tree by the riverside and the axe head being used falling into River Jordan. Thank God for His power that located the axe head and brought it back up for the user to complete his project. There are people who have lost very precious things in their lives. With God, there is nothing lost that cannot be recovered miraculously. To recover means to find something you once lost. There are people who have suffered partial loss and there are others who have suffered total loss. No matter the type of loss you have suffered, the Almighty God will restore them to you in Jesus’ Name. In Mark 5:25-34, the woman with the issue of blood lost a lot. She lost her health because she had been in that situation for long. She lost her wealth because she lost her peace because when there is absence of good health and wealth, frustration can set in and this leads to depression. But by the time she met Jesus, everything she had lost was restored to her. For a user of this devotional, whatever good thing you have lost will be recovered instantly in Jesus’ Name.

Samson is an example of someone who suffered partial loss (Judges 16:21-28). As a result of his carelessness, he lost his eyes to the enemy. Even though his hair grew back, blindness remained in his life. By that Name that is above every other name, which is Jesus, every reminder of loss in your life is terminated in Jesus’ Name. Everything you have lost: financially, physically, in your marriage and career-wise shall be fully recovered in Jesus’ Name. Another interesting story that shows God’s ability to return whatever one has lost is found in Daniel 4:28-37. It is a story about King Nebuchadnezzar. This king became so proud that he refused to acknowledge God as the source of his achievements. In a bid to humble him and teach him that man cannot achieve anything without God, God caused him to lose his kingdom. He also suffered the loss of his sanity, humanity, dignity, glory and honour. In fact, for a period of 7 years, he was not different form animals, miraculously though, all through those years of his wilderness experience, nobody replaced him on the throne. The Lord kept his position intact until his training was over. Testimonies abound to show that the fact that an opportunity was lost does not mean it cannot be regained. As long as God is in the equation, He can reverse the irreversible. He can suspend laws and principles to make a point in your life. That is why those who think they have seen your end are in for a shocker. It is important that we always appreciate what we have so that we don’t lose it. If you have lost your peace of mind due to backsliding, you have to repent of those sins and confess the Lordship of Jesus. If you do these, you will become a new person and experience the time of refreshing from the Almighty God.

Prayer Point:
Father, by your mercy, commands a recovery of all I have lost in Jesus’ Name.

Memorise :
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due
season we shall reap, if we faint not. Galatians 6:9

Read : Proverbs 6:6-8
6 Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways,
and be wise:
7 Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,
8 Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth
her food in the harvest.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR : EZEKIEL 45:7-46:24 and
REVELATION 20:7-21:8

Many believers read or study Bible but never
meditate on it. If only you can find adequate time
to ponder on the Word, you will realise that the
solution you need for every issue of life is found in
it. Find sometime to ponder on the
recommendation in our Bible reading for today,
because anyone who wants to amount to anything
significant in life has a lot to learn from the ants.
Are you already giving up or fainting before time?
Then, you have a lot to learn from the ants. The
reason why some people with great potential will
not go far in life is because they are not self-
motivated. Motivation has nothing to do with your
height but your mind. Whatever is missing in your
mind cannot be find in your life. If prosperity is not
in your mind, it cannot come into your life. If
complaining is always your mindset, possibilities
will be far from you. There is no limitation or
barrier that can stop you from becoming all what
God wants you to become, except the one you
place on yourself. You have to make up your mind
to lay aside every weight and the sin which easily
besets you ( Hebrew 12:1 ). You must run with
patience the race that is set before you. You must
not be weary in well-doing because in a short
while, if you faint not, you will reap that which has
been sown.
One big lesson you can draw from the ants is that
they are self-motivated. You have to stay
motivated to give your best against all odds. In the
midst of animals, the ants do not struggle to live;
they live comfortably. When a man of God does his
work the way it should be done, what he will eat
will not be a prayer point. As a minister , you must
see God as your employer because that is what He
is. With this mindset, you will put your trust in God
whenever you are dismayed. If you will ever make
it to your goal in life, you have to stay motivated.
You have to devise a strategy of staying on top of
your game because what you choose as your
motivation is central to the achievement of your
goals. Hope brings motivation. Hebrews 6:19 says:
‘Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul,
both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into
that within the veil;’
If you loose all your earthly possessions but retain
your hope of better tommorow, you will be fine.
May your anchor of hope remain intact in
Jesus’Name. The result you get from your effort on
anything is at most a function of the motivating
force driving you. Motivation is the forerunner of
any tangible achievement in life. There are people
who have good and strong expectations in life, but
when the winds of adversity, doubts and fear begin
to blow, quite a number of them may drift away
due to weariness and a fainting spirit. Is your
motivation for a glorious tommorow still intact? Do
you believe all is well with you despite the reports
you are getting today? Keep your hope alive, and it
shall be well with you.

Action Point :
Encourage yourself in the Lord. Build up your hope
by pondering on God’s faithfulness.

Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if
thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory
of God? John 11:40

Read: Matthew 15:22-28,
22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of
the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have
mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my
daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
23 But he answered her not a word. And his
disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her
away; for she crieth after us.
24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but
unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying,
Lord, help me.
26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to
take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs.
27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of
the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.
28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O
woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as
thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from
that very hour.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR : Ezekiel 43:13-45:6 and
Revelation 19:11-20:6

If you know how to move God, there will never be
anything that you will not be able to get done on
earth. This is the main reason why it is necessary
for every one of us to get closer to God. Apostle
Paul in Philippians 3:10 said:
“That I may know him, and the power of his
resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings,
being made conformable unto his death;”
He craved to know more of God despite the current
depth of his knowledge. Just like Paul, every one of
us needs to continue in our thirst for more of Him.
If you want God to always move in your life and
situation, there are a few things you can do. If
these things are not done, you may be compelled
to wait longer than expected before miracles can
be activated in your life. In Genesis 18:1-5,
Abraham had a divine visitation. Some strangers
came close to his tent but they did not seek to go
inside, even though they were on assignment to
bless and transform his life forever. Thank God
Abraham was sensitive enough to realise he must
do something in order to get something. Abraham
showed good hospitality to the visitors. He never
knew that by so doing, he was already preparing
heaven to move on his behalf. This is why those
who give good offerings only once in a while are
only denying themselves the miracles that God has
promised them. That you gave quality praise
yesterday is not enough to deny God praise today.
You must constantly do things that will activate
the miracles that God has prepared for you.
In the life of a child of God, there are two possible
kinds of divine encounter: going to God to meet
with Him and God Himself coming on a visit. Either
of these encounters has the potential of activating
a miracle. When a person meets with God, his life
cannot remain the same. The problems of yester
years vanish and the mourning of yesterday is
turned to laughter. However, when God Himself
comes visiting, the miracles received are always
record-breaking. I believe there is a reader of this
devotional, who will receive a visit from God in
Jesus’ Name. When God comes visiting, He brings
lots of miracles, signs and wonders to the visited.
Usually, such visits are activated when there is
something critical that needs to be done in the life
of the visited. Abraham was visited by God at the
time when the hope of having a child of covenant
was lost. Is that what your case looks like today?
Have you waited all these years and your name
has become a synonym for barrenness? Have you
been tagged as that woman who has no husband
or that man without a job? Today, God will visit
you. Every pending promise will be fulfilled. Every
secret tear will be wiped away. Your hope is being
restored right now in Jesus’ Name. I see all your
trials becoming a great testimony.

Prayer Point :
Father, let me receive an uncommon visit from you
that will turn my life around.

He staggered not at the promise of God through
unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to
God; Romans 4:20

Genesis 17:1-5
1 AND when Abram was ninety years old and nine,
the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I
am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou
2 And I will make my covenant between me and
thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.
3 And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with
him, saying,
4 As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and
thou shalt be a father of many nations.
5 Neither shall thy name any more be called
Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a
father of many nations have I made thee.

EZEKIEL 41:1-43:12;
REVELATION 18:19-19:10

There are lots of benefits awaiting those that are
patient in receiving God’s promises.
‘For since the beginning of the world men have not
heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the
eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath
prepared for him that waiteth for him.’ Isaiah 64:4
It is always to our advantage when we wait on His
word. It is the only guarantee we have for securing
victory, success and the breakthroughs we crave
for. For so long, God wanted to enter into a
Covenant with Abraham, but Abraham was just not
ready. It was only after 24years of self-
dependence and self-government by Abraham that
God felt He was ready. There are many
generational blessings that God wants to give to
you. There are also many exploits that He wants
you to accomplish, but as long as you are ready to
do it according to His time-table, there will always
be unnecessary delays. Any time God calls for a
partnership with us, He is simply looking for an
opportunity to bless us. He wants to provide divine
direction and turn our nothingness to something.
He wants to make a message out of our mess, and
He wants to bring a testimony out of our tests.
When the Lord called His disciples apart in Mark
6:30-31, it was for the purpose of waiting on Him.
If you are the type always running up and down,
you cannot get the best from God. Those who wait
on Him in patience are usually rewarded. It is very
important to wait on Him for direction in your
projects, relationships and programmes. If you
learn to be patient, situations and circumstances
will always be within your control. In the place of
waiting, there is no room for unbelief and doubt .
Abraham did not stagger at God’s promises, and
his faith was rewarded ( Romans 4:20). Peter
toiled all night without catching anything ( Luke
5:3-7 ). The Lord decided to choose his boat for a
kingdom assignment and he did not refuse or
complain; he just waited for his miracle. At the
end, he rejoiced. Have you been waiting on God’s
promises for so long? Keep your cool. Don’t be
discouraged. If you become impatient, you may
lose the benefits meant to transform your life. At
the end of Peter’s waiting, his story changed. The
Peter who caught nothing became the Peter who
needed the assistance of others to handle the
blessings of God in his life. I say to a user of this
devotional, in that Name that is above every other
name, your joy, blessing, breakthrough, healing and
anointing will overflow to generations yet unborn.
Waiting upon the promises of God requires faith.
When you wait patiently on God for anything, you
save time, and in the end, nothing will be lost.

Dear Lord, please continue to be my focus as I wait on You.

EZEKIEL 39:25-40:49 and

There are many people who started well in life but
ended very badly. If only you can look around you,
you will see the giants of yesterday who have
become the weaklings of today. This is not the
design of God but that of the devil. God calls the
weak and foolish so that He can demonstrate His
power and ability through them. The Almighty God
specialises in bringing the hopeless out of a
horrible pit. For those who put their absolute trust
in God, He is always ready to set their feet upon
the rock; the devil on the other hand, is all out to
disconnect man from his source of relevance. He is
still busy today doing what he knows how to do
best ; (John 10:10 ). The more you relate to God
as weak and foolish, the more He put in you the
strength and wisdom required to live victoriously
on earth. The more you yield yourself to Him, the
more He is committed to seeing you bear fruits.
The moment there is a disconnect between you
and God, you will begin to struggle and experience
When God called Joshua to step into the shoes of
Moses, He promised to be with him. He also
promise that throughout his life, no man would be
able to stand before him ( Joshua 1:1-5 ). But
along the line. The chain of connection was broken
because someone touched an unclean thing. This
resulted in defeat, contrary to the promised of God
( Joshua 7:5-6). Anytime we get disconnected
from the source of our strength, we get exposed to
danger and become victims in the hand of those
who should not be able to stand before us.
Obedience to the word of God always generates the
required strength for our assignment. Sustained
obedience is a basic requirement for sustaining our
connection with the source of our strength.
Connection to our father is necessary to maintain
open doors. If you continue to obey and refuse to
give in to any disconnection ploy, the Lord will
constantly supply all you need to be fruitful in this
life. If you give room to the devil, do not expect
God to intervene. This is why you must vehemently
resist the devil, stand on God’s word and continue
to please God in every situation.
One way of ensuring that there is no disconnection
between you and the source of power is by
preaching the Gospel ( John 15:2 ). Apostle Paul
all through his missionary journey never got
disconnected, because he was an addicted soul-
winner. Paul won several souls to the Lord in
Ephesus despite the stiff opposition ( Acts
19:7-10). One way God reward soul winner is by
creating more opportunities to witness. Do not
deceive yourself that you are connected to God
when you are not winning souls. When you don’t
win souls, you are on the easiest route to
experiencing a separation from God, your source.

Father, help me to remain connected to you at all

Thessalonians 5:21

Read: 1st Corinthians 3:10-14
10 According to the grace of God which is given
unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the
foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let
every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
11 For other foundation can no man lay than that
is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold,
silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for
the day shall declare it, because it shall be
revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s
work of what sort it is.

thereupon, he shall receive a reward.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR : EZEKIEL 38:1-39:24 and

It is rather unfortunate that many who started
their Christian journey on the foundation of
apostolic faith and teachings have abandoned the
faith and are now living in error. There are many
who have even become heretical in the name of
“Pentecostalism”. It is not everything you hear
from the pulpit of the 21st century preacher that is
healthy for a Christian who is heaven-bound. There
are many good Christians who had taken to a life
Christian modesty, but suddenly backslid on
getting to a foreign country, all in the name of
modernism. Today, several genuine blessings of
God have been replaced with counterfeit. Many
today have replaced a lifestyle of thanksgiving,
fervent prayers, intense worship and deep, regular
Bible study with that of occasional indulgence in a
social gospel. No wonder many of our worship
centres have become so comfortable for
unbelievers. They come and they remain the same
because there is no genuine fire on the altar. The
Church has become entertainment-focused rather
than salvation-driven.
“And the eyes of them both were opened, and they
knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig
trees together and made themselves aprons”
Genesis 3:7
Before this experience, Adam and Eve had the glory
of God as their genuine covering, but after they
disobeyed God, they were exposed to a counterfeit
covering. There is nothing you can get elsewhere
that can be better than what God has to give. Go
for His gold and not for bronze. Adam and Eve lost
their heavenly garment and continued to struggle in
sin, rather than cover themselves in the ashes of
humility and sober repentance. The glory of God
that had been covering them disappeared and they
became exposed to man-made coverings. May the
covering of God over your life not be removed in
Jesus’ Name. No matter how wealthy a man is,
without the genuine protection of the Almighty, one
will realise that his life is not safe. There are many
believers today who have lost the genuine power of
the Holy Spirit and are resigned to faking it. It
takes the enlightenment of the Almighty for the
very elect not to be deceived or carried away by
the counterfeit gospel which is popular but not
real. The love of many has waxed cold as
prophesied by the Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew
24:12). The quality of some people’s service in the
vineyard has dropped, and the commitment level of
many needs to be reappraised. Like the prodigal
son, you can repent today after comparing the
peace of genuine salvation to the struggle of
pretence. Satan is all out to deny people of
genuine salvation. He is introducing counterfeits
dressed as salvation to people. It is my prayer that
you will never suffer loss in Jesus’ Name.

Prayer Point :
Father, help me not to be a victim of any form of
end –time deceit.

Memorise: The meek will he guide in judgement: and the meek will he teach his way. Psalm 25:9
Bible Reading: Exodus 4:12-15, Bible in one year: Ezekiel 36:16-37:28, Revelation 16

It brings great pain to God when His children refuse His guidance. There are many believers still living in bondage because they refused the guidance of God. There are many in wrong relationship, wrong businesses, wrong careers, wrong locations and wrong vocations simply because they have refused to trust the ability of God to guide them. Many pray for God’s guidance, but they refuse this guidance when the way of God is showing them seems different from what they want. Some years ago, a brother was asked to relocate from his company’s branch in western Nigeria to the northern Nigeria branch. The Lord further revealed to him that he would not stay in the north for long but that he should relocate first. On hearing that he would still return to the west, he began to question God on why it was necessary for him to go up north at all, but he obeyed. Little did he know that the Lord wanted to exonerate him from a disaster that was about to happen. After this event, he appreciated the love of God. The scripture says in Isaiah 30:21,

“And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.”

If you partner with God, He will guide you in every area of your life for your own good. He will remove from your path those things that looks good but the end of which is utter destruction. If you are in partnership with God, He will warn you of danger zones. He will warn you against “blessings” that will lead to your destruction. He will guide you against marrying someone who will cause you irrecoverable loss in the journey of life. He will show you opportunities that people despise but which possess great potentials. There are many people experiencing loss everyday simply because they have not trusted in the guidance of the Almighty God who knows everything (Proverbs 3:5-6).

There are times God will say “No” to a beautiful request. When this happens, the one asking feels disappointed. But to the One who has all power, there are great things compared to what is being asked for. In spite of all the prayer efforts you have invested in certain requests, God can still say “No” if He has something great in the offing for you. Have you been trusting God for a particular blessing for so long? I have good news for you. Do not be discouraged; God has something better for you because you are a child of covenant and because you have no appointment with failure. The best is reserved for you as you trust His guidance and submit to His will for your life.

Prayer Point: Father, please remove every communication gap between us that hinders me from knowing your will.

Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your
sins may be blotted out, when the times of
refreshing shall come from the presence of the
Lord; Acts 3:19

Isaiah 55:6-7
6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye
upon him while he is near:
7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the
unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return
unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him;
and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

EZEKIEL 34:11-36:15
REVELATION 14:14-15:8

After God has done something spectacular in your
life, there is a need to give quality thanks to Him.
You need to appreciate God for His faithfulness
and blessings over your life, home and career, as
well as for the peace of mind that money cannot
buy. Never allow anything to limit your
thanksgiving, and always colour your thanksgiving
with praise and testimonies. After surviving the
flood, Noah and his household offered quality
thanks to God for preserving them in the midst of
the destruction that came upon the earth. Some
years ago, one of my daughters praised God like
never before during a New Year cross-over service.
Many were curious to know the reason for her
uncommon thanksgiving and praise. In response,
she said she was thanking God for preserving her
life to see the New Year despite all that had
happened to her in the previous year. In the
previous year, she lost her job, lost her car to
robbers and lost her flat to a fire incident. But
when there is life, there is hope. There is a user of
this devotional, every good thing you have lost
before now will be restored in Jesus’ Name.
Many people only thank God when things are going
well, but for some, thanksgiving has become their
lifestyle irrespective of what is happening around
them. Do you remember to thank God at those
times when you have enjoyed uncommon grace to
do the right thing, when ordinarily the devil would
have wanted you to do otherwise? It is one thing
to know how to do the right thing, and it is
another thing to receive the grace to do it.
The Lord wants everything to change for your
good. He wants you to experience the times of
refreshing. Change can be positive or negative. If a
man gets promoted in the office to an enviable
position, it is a change. This change attracts other
changes; for example, the one who has been
receiving orders becomes the one issuing them.
The one who has been driving himself becomes the
one with an official driver. This year, the Lord will
surprise you and surprise your enemies by what He
will do in your life. This is why you cannot afford
to be unserious with God. While things change for
good for His children, for those who are not on the
Lord’s side, the change will not be positive. When
the Lord set the children of Israel free from the
hands of their slave masters, it was a change to
freedom, but on the side of the Egyptians, it was
the beginning of destruction and self-service. I am
speaking to the life of someone: a change is
coming to you now. It shall be a change for good
that will affect every area of your life and bring
uncommon blessings to your life, family, ministry,
business and career.

Change happens to those who are prepared to
handle it.

Memorise :
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have
lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is
thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out,
and to be trodden under foot of men. Mathew 5:13

taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit,
he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR : EZEKIEL 33:1-34:10 and

The presence of God is very crucial in the life of
anyone who wants to be influential in the things
that pertain to righteousness . Any child of God
who does not carry the presence of God will fail
because he will be struggling when he is supposed
to be shining. In the reign of King Solomon, he
observed that all those who could have easily
refused to obey his commands submitted to him
instead. Only the presence of God guarantees such.
1 Chronicles 29:25 says that,
‘ And the LORD magnified Solomon exceedingly in
the sight of all Israel, and bestowed upon him such
royal majesty as had not been on any king before
him in Israel.’
Are your subordinate rebellious of despising you?
Go and receive the power of God’s presence. Are
you hiding instead of manifesting? Are your
children refusing to submit to your instructions? It
means you need more of God’s presence.
There are many people who have lost their
relevance because they are too choosy. Many
people struggle for kingdom assignments that feed
their ego, while they run away from other tasks.
Some people will give God a list of why what He is
asking them to do cannot be done. Making
excuses to God can place you on the wrong side of
His judgement. ( Luke 9:61-62 ). Excuses can
move an individual from relevance to irrelevance.
As a genuine Christian, wherever you find yourself,
you must be concerned about impacting lives
( Mathew 5:16 ). While David was in the cave of
Adullam, all kinds of people with all sorts of
problems come to him ( 1 Samuel 22:1-2 ). With
the presence of God in life of David, the problems
of these people were solved and their status
changed. Your success would be measured to a
large extent by the number of lives that changed in
your ministry. If your ministry cannot impact lives
for good, it is either you are not salt, or you have
lost your savour. Several years ago, I visited a
friend. During my visit, I observed that his
youngest daughter was carried on the back of her
mother. This girl would just not allow anyone else
to carry her expect her mother. As I arrived at the
house, the baby stretched forth her hands for me
to carry her, and I did . Afterwards, I prayed for her
and left. Months later, the mother of this girl
confessed that on the day I visited, plans had been
concluded to take the life of the baby, but this
plans failed. You must pray earnestly so that your
life, your ministry and your family can have more
relevance In the Body of Christ. When many fall in
the midst of trials, temptations and pressures, it is
not because the grace of God is not there; rather it
is due to a gradual loss of relevance.

Prayer Point :
Father, remove everything that is hindering my
relevance in this generation.

Memorise: Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: Proverbs 6:6

Read: 2nd Thessalonians 3:6-12. 6 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us. 7 For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you; 8 Neither did we eat any man’s bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you: 9 Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us. 10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. 11 For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies. 12 Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread. Bible in one year: Ezekiel 31:32, Revelation 13

If there is one truth every believer must know in this present age, it is that God hates laziness. God set an example of hard work for us through the creation of the heavens and the earth. Without the hard work of God, this world wouldn’t be a beautiful place. He did not rest until He had finished with creation. His hard work resulted on the excellence we can see in the beautiful world around us. Whenever God is looking for people to commit serious assignment to, He looks for people who will never give excuses for not delivering. He looks for hardworking people because He has no business with lazy bones. God is in search of diligent and resourceful people who will use all of their strategy to ensure that the work of God suffers no loss. One of the secrets behind the success of Paul’s ministry is this: he went above winning souls with the same zeal with which he was persecuting the Church before he met Christ.

“Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:” Proverbs 6:6

There are certain truths we cannot ignore from this passage. This passage is meant for those who are lazy and for those in need of wisdom. Though ants are small, there are lots of lessons that can be learnt from them. There are lessons parents can learn form their children, just as there are lessons leaders can learn from their followers. But this can only happen in the absence of pride. The more humble you are, the greater the things that will be committed to your hands, because you have learnt the secret of hard work. Through hard work, Paul achieved more than his peers. He even direct disciples of Jesus Christ. The epistles he wrote are still positively affecting generations far more than you can ever imagine. Paul never gave room for excuses in the course of reaching his goals. Little wonder he emerged a great success in the early Church.

Today, I see a lot of people wasting their time. They have no goals for their lives. They are not after anything because success is not a desire for them. They are just comfortable with the normal routine of the average person, and that is why there is nothing significant about them. No performance, no achievement. Some people are so lazy that they are not consulted wherever performance is expected because people already know what to expect. May this not be your story in Jesus’ Name. Beloved, you must decide to take the path of greatness. No great thing comes easy. You must aim high even if you are starting small. You have no barrier, limitation or excuses for not achieving greatness in life. The seed of God is in you. You must say no to those things that are slowing you down from the fulfilment of your God-given destiny.

Action Point.
List out all possible excuses for your non-performance and pray against them.

The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the
soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making

for instruction in righteousness:

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR : EZEKIEL 28:25-30:26 and

Getting your breakthrough does not necessarily
depend on the discovery of new methods. But on
receiving fresh revelations from the Word of God.
Every revelation from the Word produces a
manifestation in the lives of individual, and
consequently in the life of a nation. While many
view God’s word as ordinary, a few see it as a
divine weapon ( Hebrew 4:12 ).
One reason why the Word fails to deliver its
potential to us is our attitude to it. This includes
how we see and receive the Word. If you casually
take the Word as ordinary, you render it powerless,
but if you take it seriously, it will aid your spiritual
development. The Word is good for us because it
brings hope to a hopeless situation, brings life to a
lifeless situation and reverses the irreversible. The
Word is the platform on which we should lay the
foundation of our desires and requests. The
moment the Word is released by God on any issue
of life, you can safely act on it. In 2 Timothy 2:15,
we are commanded to study to show ourselves
approved unto God. There is a great depth in God’s
Word. By engaging the Word, you are opening
yourself up to great revelations, hidden treasures
and fresh insight. If you do this continually, you are
changing your life subconsciously ( Psalm
119:11 ).
The Word of God is one of the weapons with which
you can fight the devil and every unpleasant
situation of life. With the Word, you can begin to
defeat the enemy during temptations and attacks.
The Word is good for renewing your mind, because
it reveals God’s thoughts to you,and it makes you
see things through God’s eyes. The Word that God
send to meet your needs is all en-compassing.
Psalm 107:20 says:
‘He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered
them from their destructions.’
I decree that the Word that will change your life for
good and have a great impact on your destiny will
come quickly In Jesus’Name. There are some
believers who do not tremble at the Word of God.
In our churches today, when the Word is going out,
there are some people who will be holding
discussions with others; chatting about things that
do not matter. This should be stopped. We are to
tremble at God’s Word. We are to pay close
attention to the Word anywhere we are. If you
tremble at the Word, you will take down notes
while reading it and you will put the Word into
practice. On the day of the Lord’s return, the Word
alone will form the basis of assessing what we did.
You cannot be a victorious Christian with your own
strength. You have to depend on the Word of God
to be able to fix every issue of your life.

Key Point :
When you study the Word. You are putting Christ
in your heart.

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL. Topic: Practical Spiritual Mentoring [Monday March 2, 2015]

Memorise: Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. – 1 Corinthians 11:1

Read: (John 13:12-17 KJV)

12 So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?

13 Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.

14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet.

15 For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.

16 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.

17 If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.

Bible in One Year: Ezekiel 27:1-28:24 and Revelation 11

In the contemporary Christian church, there is a problem of lack of practical mentoring for new believers. Practical mentoring involves a mentor at the fore-front of practical Christian living, instructing the mentee to follow after his or her example. Such an arrangement faces two problems in today’s world. First, some so- called spiritual mentors teach and point their mentees to the narrow path that leads to eternal life, but they themselves are not on this route. They tell disciples the truth about Christian living, but they themselves do something else. Such cannot say what Paul said in Phillippians 3:17:

‘Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.’

On the other hand, so-called spiritual mentors compromise the truth of the scriptures so that they can be “free” to exhibit their lusts and unethical dispositions. The youths they ought to give a sense of direction are the same ones they copy under the guise of encouraging them to come to Church. An African adage says : “The wife you marry from a dancing hall will eventually abandon you for sightseeing in the very near future.” Another adage also says: “The house you built with spittle will be demolished by the mere dew of heaven.” In other words, it does not require a tornado or tsunami to wipe away such spiritual houses built worldly ideas. This is the reason our younger generation of Christians are easy prey to the devil.

In today’s Bible reading, we see Jesus practically teaching, mentoring and furnishing his disciples with gems of leadership. He demonstrated to them in a practical way what He had taught them in Matthew 20:27-28:

‘And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.’

Are you a Christian mentor, doing or teaching what is wrong? Beware! One dangerous consequence of wrong Christian mentoring is found in the words of Jesus in Mathew 5:19:

‘Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.’

Action Point: Say to the Lord: Father, I Thank you for giving me perfect spiritual mentoring through Jesus. Please make me a perfect spiritual mentor as well.’ Pray for me on this my birthday, that the Lord will continue to make me an avenue of blessing to this generation.

Memorise: Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end shall greatly increase. Job 8:7
Bible in one year: Ezekiel 24:15-26:21, Revelation 9:20-10:11

The beginning of a thing is very important because it serves as the foundation upon which everything else stands. The way you begin a thing can determine the speed, attitude and the degree of success or failure you will experience in it. I have good news for you: with Jesus on your side, you can always have a new beginning, even in a hopeless situation. There is no hopeless situation with God. He is the power behind and the source of everything you want to achieve in life (Colossians 1:17). In any situation where you may have lost hope or experienced failure, with the involvement of Jesus, you can have a new beginning. Peter was already washing his net to pack up and go when Jesus came into the picture (Luke 5:2-6). Humanly speaking Peter had done all that was expected. He got to the river very early in the morning, had the right tools to work with and went with the right team, yet he had no result until the Alpha and Omega stepped in. Jesus will step into every area of your toiling in Jesus’ Name.

On challenges most believers face is the inability to reconcile God’s timing with theirs. We find it difficult to link our present to our future. One thing we need to know is that God specialises in calling those things that be not as if they were. God can call you a manager when you are presently serving as a messenger. He can call you a billionaire while you don’t even know where your next meal will come from. Do you know that the problem with many Christians is that of unbelief and fear of what God is calling them into? Many have remained on the same spot for so long because they are afraid to launched out. Many have wasted great opportunities because they don’t have to leave their comfort zone. Many great doors have been shut because those to whom they were opened did not have enough courage to step in. Because you have done all you can and nothing changed is not enough reason to give up. All you need is to call upon the Alpha which is Jesus. He will give you a brand new beginning and He will guide you until your small beginning becomes very great. You must never despise the days of your small beginnings. There can never be glory without a story. You must cultivate the habit of always praising God for every phase of your life. Some people are so preoccupied with what God is doing in other people’s lives that they have refused to celebrate the faithfulness of God in their own small beginning. Never despise that business that is starting small. Never despise that position that looks inconsequential. Never despite that location that looks unpromising. Never despite that marriage that is starting small. That level you are on now is not your destination; you are on a mission and you can never be through until the whole world has seen the glory of God in your life.

Action Point:
Thank God for the current phase for your life, and ask him for a new beginning wherever you have experience failure.

Memorise: Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: Matthew 7:7
Bible Reading: Psalm 5:1-3
Bible in one year: Ezekiel 23:1-24:14, Revelation 8:13-9:19

Prayer is ordained by God as a means of communication between God and man. Christians are commanded to depends on God completely for all their needs, hopes and aspirations by bringing all their requests to Him in prayer (Philippians 4:6). In today’s memory verse, God challenges anyone who believes in Him to ask and they shall receive, to seek and they shall find, to knock and it shall be opened to them. He went further in John 16:24 where He said;
“Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.”
This means that prayer is the means God has provided for Christians to have all of their needs satisfied. For this reason, God did not place any limitation on prayer; He tells us to pray without ceasing (1st Thessalonians 5:17). So, you can continuously approach heaven without any fear of disturbing God.

Prayer symbolises trust and total dependence on God. Dependence on God for help with spiritual and physical needs arises out of an awareness of human helplessness (Psalm 18:6, Mark 4:38). The word of the Lord to those who would not pray because they have alternative means of getting things done is found in Jeremiah 17:5:
“ Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.
But for those who trust in Him, He sends this word in Hebrew 4:16:
“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”

God answer prayers because He is the one who commanded that we should pray and He cannot deny Himself. Because we have access to God through Jesus (Ephesians 3:12), and because Jesus Himself gave us the assurance that He will do whatsoever we ask the Father in His Name (John 15:16), you can therefore go ahead and ask so that your joy may be full. All power in heaven and on earth belongs to God; He is the owner of all things visible and invisible. He is a loving Father, and He is only waiting to hear from you.

Action Point
Ask God for 5 things you need Him to do for you, and trust Him to answer.

Open Heavens daily devotion by Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Topic: Lamentation as Praise! Date: February 26, 2015

Memorise: For his anger endureth but a
moment; in his favour is life: weeping may
endure for a night, but joy cometh in the
morning. – Psalm 30:5
Read: ( Psalm 30:7-12 KJV)
7 LORD, by thy favour thou hast made my
mountain to stand strong: thou didst hide thy
face, and I was troubled.
8 I cried to thee, O LORD; and unto the LORD I
made supplication.
9 What profit is there in my blood, when I go
down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee?
shall it declare thy truth?
10 Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me:
LORD, be thou my helper.
11 Thou hast turned for me my mourning into
dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and
girded me with gladness;
12 To the end that my glory may sing praise to
thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will
give thanks unto thee for ever.
Bible in One Year: Ezekiel 19-20 and Revelation
A lamentation is a song mourning or sorrow. In
the Bible, lamentations were usually motivated
by national disasters (2 Chronicles 35:25 ), by
bereavement ( 2 Samuel 3:33-34 ), personal
suffering (Psalm 102:1-11 ) or by the judgment
of God ( Amos 5:1-2 ). Lamentations could also
be inspired by repentance as shown in Daniel
9:4-20 .
A lamentation can contain praise of express
thanksgiving and gratitude to the Almighty
God. Such was the lamentation of Daniel in
Daniel 9. It was laced with praises to God even
though He was mourning the captivity of the
children of Israel. No wonder the Lord heard his
lamentation and quickly dispatched an
archangel to conform him. Jesus in Matthew 5:4
“Blessed are they that mourn: for they
shall be comforted.”
This reveals that there is blessedness even in
mourning. There is still a reason to glorify God
for His goodness and His mercy even in
morning. It shows that though there is
lamentation, there will be clear reasons to
praise God at the end. Singing songs of sorrow
can therefore lead to comfort.
An example of sorrow leading to comfort is
seen when we lament for our sins, mistakes and
errors in such a way that leads to genuine
repentance. Such repentance leads to
“Now I rejoice, not that ye were made
sorry, but that ye sorrowed to
repentance: for ye were made sorry after
a godly manner, that ye might receive
damage by us in nothing. For godly
sorrow worketh repentance to salvation
not to be repented of: but the sorrow of
the world worketh death.” 2 Corinthians
In the above passage, the lamentation and
sorrow of the Corinthians led to repentance.
Paul rejoiced to see this genuine repentance
take place in the life of the people. Godly
sorrow brings repentance unto salvation. What
started as lamentation or a song of sorrow,
produced reasons to praise God at the end.
Lamentation becomes a source of praise when
godly sorrow produces genuine repentance.
Such repentance leads to the joy of salvation,
divine approval and blessing.
Prayer Point: Father, let your Church experience
godly sorrow that leads to genuine repentance
in Jesus’ Name.

It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD,
and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High:
Psalm 92:1

Read: Luke 17:11-19
11 And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem,
that he passed through the midst of Samaria and
12 And as he entered into a certain village, there
met him ten men that were lepers, which stood
afar off:
13 And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus,
Master, have mercy on us.
14 And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go
shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to
pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.
15 And one of them, when he saw that he was
healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified
16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him
thanks: and he was a Samaritan.
17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten
cleansed? but where are the nine?
18 There are not found that returned to give glory
to God, save this stranger.
19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy
faith hath made thee whole.

Thanksgiving to God, especially for gifts and
blessings received, is required and expected. God
abhors ungrateful people. God expects Christians
to give thanks in all circumstances they are
confronted with. In 1st Thessalonians 5:18, Apostle
Paul wrote that:
“In everything give thanks: for this is the will of
God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
Our Lord Jesus Christ also demonstrated to us the
essence of thanksgiving. Several times, He gave
thanks to the Father (John 11:41, Matthew 15:36,
Luke 22:17).
God wants His children to thank Him and show
gratitude for everything that happens in their lives.
We are to thank God when we are full and when
we are empty. We are to continuously show
appreciation for the many things we normally take
for granted. Our willingness to thank God should
not be based on our mood, i.e. whether we are
happy or not. It should not be based only on the
things we receive and recognise as gifts and
blessings; we should also thank God for the
miracle of sleeping and waking up, for the gift of
life, for the salvation of our souls and for divine
health. Thank God for the ability to use every part
of your body; that you can eat, drink, see, walk,
speak, learn and interact with people. Thank God
because no matter what you are going through,
you are still better off in certain areas compared to
some other people on the face of the earth.
Thanksgiving to God can be expressed in several
different ways. However, offering thanksgiving to
God in an acceptable manner guarantees an
immediate response from God. Solomon chose to
give a thousand burnt offerings (2nd Chronicles
1:6), one of the lepers in our Bible text fell down
and glorified God with a loud voice (Luke
17:15-16), while David showed gratitude in song
and with dancing (2nd Samuel 6:14). God
responded to Solomon by giving him a blank
cheque to ask for anything he wanted. The leper
had a partial healing at first, but Jesus made him
completely whole after he offered thanks. God was
pleased with David and He established his throne
forever. Each of these three received a blessing
from God that was irreversible. I pray therefore
that as you praise and thank the Lord for His
goodness and mercy over you over your life, you
will receive irreversible blessing from Him in Jesus’

Prayer Point :
Father, please give me a heart of gratitude and put
on me the garment of thanksgiving.

Memorise: Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. John 4:22
Bible Reading: Acts 17:16-23
Bible in one year: Ezekiel 13-15, Revelation 4

Apostle Paul was taking a walk through the old city of Athens as a visitor when he noticed an altar with this inscription: “TO THE UNKNOWN GOD”. Paul was aware that Athens at that particular period was filled with philosopher of either epicurean beliefs or those of stoic principles. Epicurean beliefs or those of stoic principles. Epicureans were devoted to sensual pleasure. They had sensitive tastes, especially in food and wine, and they loved to enjoy the good things of life. On the other hand, Stoics were professedly indifferent to pleasure or pain, free from passion, unmoved by joy or grief and submissive to the natural law. The philosophers prided themselves as custodians of exceptional wisdom and knowledge in all areas of life including issues about God and religion. When they met Apostle Paul, being persuaded of their superior wisdom, they were quick to ask “What will this babbler say?” However, their folly was already evident inn this inscription. This story still rings true today. Because knowledge has greatly increased all over the world, scientists and philosophers proudly try to impose their limited mortal theories as superior to the knowledge of the Almighty God.
However, like the Athenians of Paul’s days. There are genuine seekers among today’s scientists and philosophers, who will readily accept Jesus as Lord and saviour and submit to the authority of the Scripture if the right opportunity is made available to them. The truth is: God is a spiritual being. His existence cannot be investigated or proved scientifically; neither can He be searched out through philosophical investigations. Therefore, God can only be known by faith, through the revelation knowledge made available by the gospel of Jesus Christ (Luke 10:22). And more importantly, the whole Bible provides extremely convincing factual evidence that God exists and that Jesus Christ is the Son of the Living God (Colossians 1:15-17)

It is therefore time to expose the error of the unknown God and begin to propagate a more perfect knowledge of the Living God. We must use every available opportunity to reach the world with the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is the power of God unto salvation. It is the sure way to forgiveness, forgiveness, deliverance, healing, peace, Joy and prosperity. Remember, time is short. Begin to vigorously propagate the gospel today, and great rewards will accrue to your account here on earth and in heaven in Jesus’ Name.

Prayer Point:
Father, please grant me the grace to be an addicted soul winner in Jesus’ Name.

Memorise: And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s hands were loosed. Acts 16:25-26
Bible Reading: 2nd Chronicles 20:21-23
Bible in one year: Ezekiel 10:12, Revelation 3:7-22

In today’s reading, the Bible clearly presents worship as a lethal weapon of war. Here, three powerful nations rose up against Israel in battle. Knowing that they could not match their enemies in physical warfare, King Jehoshaphat appointed singers unto the Lord, and they went before the army to praise the beauty of God’s holiness (2nd Chronicles 20:21) when they began to sing and praise God, suddenly, worship turned into a lethal weapon of war, and the Lord decided ton waylay the armies of their enemies. As you praise and worship the Lord today, your worship will work against your detractors as a lethal weapon of war in the Name of Jesus. Another example of worship as a lethal weapon of war took place in Joshua 6. After the Israelites got to Jericho, they were confronted by its mighty wall that seemed impossible to breakthrough. Jericho was shut in; the only available option therefore was to mount a siege that could last for months. However, the people shouted a great shout after the priests blew the trumpet, and the wall of Jericho fell down flat (Joshua 6:20). Again, in the Name that is above all other names, I command everything that represents the wall of Jericho in your life to fall down flat before you.

I have always maintained that if you are faced with a challenge of any kind and you have fasted, you have prayed, and done all that you can do without getting any appreciable result, its time to try praise and worship. Worship has proved to be a very prise potent weapon of warfare in many cases where everything else appeared to be ineffective. Whenever a child of God begins to praise His holy Name and hail Him as the Alpha and Omega, King of kings, Lord of lords, I Am that I Am, Mighty Man in battle, Lord of hosts, Omnipotent God, Omniscient  God, Jehovah Nissi, Jehovah Shalom, the Present Help in the time of trouble, Ancient of Days, the Almighty etc, He responds immediately, because He cannot deny Himself. Such was the experience of Paul and Silas in Acts 16:25-26. The Bible states that they prayed first and nothing seemed to happen, but when they started singing, suddenly, there was a great earthquake. Today, your worship will become a lethal weapon against your problems and challenges inn the Name of Jesus.

Key Point
If you dare to take your worship to a higher level, you will surely reap higher rewards.

Memorise: Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. Romans 1:19

Bible Reading: Matthew 11:25-27
Bible in one year: Ezekiel 1-3, Revelation 1,

The scriptures make it clear that it is possible to acquire the knowledge of God. As a matter of fact, God has systematically and painstakingly revealed Himself to humanity through nature and through the Bible. The Bible teaches that God can be known, and that it is possible to have the perfect knowledge of God through Jesus Christ His Son. Our Lord Jesus revealed that eternal life lies in knowing God and the person of Jesus Christ (John 17:3).

Many people conclude in error that God cannot be known because He is beyond human imagination. It must be admitted that God cannot be fathomed by the imagination of man. We cannot form a mental image of the infinite and eternal God. It is for this reason that God sent us His only begotten Son, so that by beholding Him, we might understand the nature and the character of God. Jesus came to give us the perfect knowledge of God. Hear what Jesus said to Philip in response to his request for a revelation of the Father in John 14:9:

“Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?”

Having the perfect knowledge of God does not imply having a complete and exhaustive knowledge of Him. It does not mean knowing all of His essence, nature and attributes. Simply put, God is past finding out, but we can know Him by faith to the extent that He has revealed of Himself in His Son and through the Scripture.

No man knows the Father except the Son and whomever the Son shall reveal Him to (Luke 10:22). Jesus is the incarnate Word of God and the manifestation of His person and glory (Hebrews 1:3). Accepting Jesus as Master, Lord and Saviour is a necessary first step towards knowing God Almighty. ACCEPTING JESUS INTO YOUR LIFE TODAY! Daniel 11:32 makes it clear that the people who do know their God shall be strong and do exploits. I therefore decree in the Name that is above all other names, that as you endeavour to have the perfect knowledge of God through the diligent study of His word, you will receive the power to do exploits physically, spiritually, materially and financially in Jesus’ Name.

Key Point:
The knowledge of God produces righteousness that begins salvation, peace, joy, and prosperity.

Memorise: But the hour cometh and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. John 4:23-24
Bible Reading: Revelation 5:11-14
Bible in one year: Lamentations 1-2, Acts 27:33-28:10

The first to learn about worthy worship is that worship should be in accordance to the commandments of God, but it should not be mechanical. In other words, obedience must precede any act of worship and it and it must come from the depth of our being. 1st Samuel 15:22 says,

“And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than fat of rams.”

After worshipper who is not living in obedience to the word of God worships in vain. Of such are Christians who call Jesus “Lord, Lord”, but fail to do the will of God. Their effort is fruitless and their act of worship does not move God. You will not worship God in vain in Jesus’ Name.

Any act of worship that is mechanical, devoid of true love, faith, reverent adoration, honour and praise to the Almighty God will not be acceptable. Worship that is worthy and acceptable to God must be offered in spirit and in truth; it must be offered wholeheartedly and with total submission to the will of God. In Matthew 22:37, Jesus enjoined us to love the Lord with all our heart, soul and might; this means that worthy worship requires putting in everything we have. The right attitude is required for our worship to be counted worthy and acceptable to God. The first step is to carry out a self-examination to be sure that our heart is right with God (1st Corinthians 11:28). Then we are to carefully follow the footsteps of David in 2 Samuel 12:20a:

“Then David arose from the earth, and washed, and anointed himself, and changed his apparel, and came into the house of the LORD, and worshipping.

David got up from the earth; this means he separated himself from earthy things. Next, he washed up to properly cleanse himself from every form of dirt and iniquity. He proceeded to anoint himself and change his filthy garments to that of holiness and righteousness. Only then did he have the confidence to enter the presence of God and was able to worship God without any hindrance. As you approach the presence of God today, your worship will be counted worthy and acceptable before Him in Jesus’ Name.

Prayer Point:
Father, let the blessings of worthy and acceptable worship be mine today in Jesus’ Name.

MEMORISE : For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth. ZECHARIAH 4 : 10.

READ : 1 KINGS 18 : 42 – 44.

42 So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees,

43 And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times.

44 And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man’s hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down, that the rain stop thee not.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR : JEREMIAH 51 : 52 – 52 : 34 AND ACTS 27 : 13 – 32.

Today’s reading is a popular Bible story that serves as a perfect example to illustrate God’s view on small beginnings. The Almighty God seems to favour the principle of things starting in a small way, manageable way and then growing progressively. This principle runs through almost everything in creation. In the book of Genesis, God only created a sample of each species of plants and animals which He commanded to reproduce, then multiply and go on to replenish the earth. The outcome can be seen today. It is amazing to note that Redeemed Christian Church of God started more or less like a house fellowship with about 12 members.
Today, by God’s grace, it has grown into a church with thousand of parishes spread all over the world. I therefore pray that though your beginning may be small, your latter end will be great in Jesus’ Name.

It is important to know that the message of Jesus Christ in the story of mustard seed in Mark 4 : 30 – 32 was to show that though the size of a mustard seed may be small, it grows to become a massive plant. He likened this to the kingdom He came to establish, to show that the Kingdom of God will grow and its final manifestation will be surprisingly great. Its final manifestation will bear no resemblance to its small beginning. True to those words, the church has grown beyond measure and the gospel of Jesus Christ has almost travelled around the whole world. Whatever you are doing or planning to do, be it in ministry or in business, do not kill yourself to start big with everything in place. Do not be discouraged by negative comments or despisers. Focus on your assignment and look on to God for increase ( Job 8 : 7 ).

After Prophet Elijah had laboured vigorously in the place of prayer by casting himself down on the floor and putting his face between his knees, all he received was a little cloud like man’s hand. But soon after, the sky was black with cloud and there was a great rain. There is somebody reading this devotional ,maybe you are at the beginning of your education or training; maybe you are just starting a new parish or ministry, a new career or business. Do not be afraid because your beginning is small, the Almighty God will cause your latter end to be Great in the Name of Jesus.

Father, please help my humble beginning; cause my latter end to be great in Jesus’ Name.

MEMORISE : To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. ECCLESIASTES 3 : 1.

1 TO every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR : JEREMIAH 51 : 1 – 51 AND ACTS 26 : 24 – 27 : 12.

Today’s reading makes it clear that God has a timetable. Obviously, this timetable is tied to a heavenly calendar. The Lord in His infinite wisdom designed the heavens and the earth, and He allotted times and seasons to every plan and purpose. There is some truth to the quote from Shakespeare which says the entire world is a stage. The world began in Genesis and has closely followed the pattern of a drama. The timing of every act, the duration of each scene and the role of each actor strictly follows a divine script written by God Himself. Therefore, there is a time to be born, a time to laugh, a time for war and a time to die. There is a time for salvation, deliverance, and judgment. Also, there is an appointed time for the rise and fall of individuals and nations of the world.

In God’s timetable, there is a time for favour. When the time to favour you comes, you will receive divine intervention like Daniel in the lion’s den. Favour will locate you like David in the wilderness; a higher authority will become interested in your case like Joseph in prison, and all your prayers will be answered. I therefore pray in the Name that is above all other names that your time of favour shall come speedily. When your time of favour comes, the word of God in Romans 8 : 28 will become reality in your life.

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8 : 28.

Moreover, in God’s timetable, there is a time for the fulfilment of prophecy. To be destined for such a glorious position in the agenda of the Almighty God is not a general gift and not by accident. It is usually for a purpose – a divine purpose. When your time of fulfilment of prophecy comes as experienced by Abraham, Jacob, Israel, Joseph, Joshua, Esther, David and Jesus of Nazareth, God will suspend natural laws and break protocols for your sake. He will make ways for you where there is no way. He will make connect you to your destiny–helpers, and your journey to success will be accelerated. May the time for fulfilment of prophecy come quickly in your life in Jesus’ Name.

Father, please let my time of special favour and accelerated fulfilment of prophecy come speedily in Jesus’ Name.

RCCG OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL Saturday February 14, 2015 Topic: Faith without Works?

Topic: Faith without Works?

Memorise: But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. – Hebrews 11:6

Read: (James 2:14-17 KJV)
14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?

15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,

16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

It is necessary to first establish the fact that the statement of James that “faith without works is dead”, applies to the fellow who knows the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Such a person knows the facts about God in the mind, is persuaded of the truth of the gospel and is in agreement with Christian principles. In fact, such a person takes part in Christian worship, is a church-goer and believes with all sincerity that he or she is a true child of God. The only issue is that such a person fails to commit to Jesus in a way and manner that leads to changes in lifestyle. Such people refuse to allow old things in their lives to pass away – there is no crossing the line from darkness to light, there is no spiritual development or growth and such a person does not bear the fruits of righteousness. James 2:17 describes a person whose faith is dead because there are no works to show for it. In Matthew 7:21, Jesus was referring to such people when He said.

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.”

It is very clear therefore that there is a form of action that must follow any profession of faith in Christ Jesus before such faith can be called a living faith. When profession of faith is not backed up with action, then such faith is dead. Many are in the Church today living their lives the same way as people who do not know Christ. The Bible in 2Timothy 3:5a, described such people as

“Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof:”

Such people profess faith in the Son of God; they claim that they believe in the Gospel of Jesus Christ but they flatly deny the transforming power in the Word of God. They would do anything in the Name of God except allow any genuine transformation to take place in their lives.

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” – Romans 12:2

Children of God, faith without works is dead, and dead faith is of no use to anyone. Renew your faith today by backing it up with active works of righteousness. Put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge and transformed into the image of Christ (Colossians 3:10)

Action Point: Faith without works is dead, follow up your faith with works of righteousness.

Bible in One Year: Jeremiah 49:23-50:46, and Acts 26:1-23

Date: Thursday February 12th 2015
Memorise: He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God. Revelation 2:7
Bible Reading: Amos 3:7-8
Bible in one year: Jeremiah 45-47, Acts 24:22-25:12

Divine information refers to knowledge, instruction, intelligence, facts or details relating to or proceeding directly from God. Divine information is given as an act of love to save humanity from Satan, sin and its destructive effects. There are many sources of divine information such as the Bible, the Holy Spirit and the Lord Jesus Christ. The operation of these three complement and do not contradict each other. This truth is established in John 16:14 and in 2nd Peter 1:20-21 which says:

“Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Other sources of divine information including God speaking through his prophets (Amos 3:7); through visions and dreams (Daniel 1:17) and by the use of special signs (1st Kings 13:3-5). The content of a divine revelation can be the unveiling of hidden mysteries (Daniel 2:22), a notification of future events (Genesis 41:25), a revelation of God’s glory, a revelation of God’s salvation (Luke 2:30-32) or a revelation of God’s wrath (Romans 1:18). However, the general response that God expects from you whenever divine information is sent to you is sobriety, compliance, total obedience and immediate action.

“Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.” Hebrew 4:7

Please be warned that refusal to heed divine information in a timely manner could lead to devastating results that may be irreversible. God is presently sending out several divine signals and information. He is calling the Church back from worldliness and a sinful lifestyle to holiness and righteousness. Please do not harden your hearts; today is the day of salvation, tomorrow may be too late!

Prayer Point:
Father, please help me to give a timely and positive response to every divine information I receive in Jesus’ Name.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL Date: Wednesday 11th February 2015 Title: Sound of Abundant Rain

Memorize: Ask ye of the LORD rain in the time of the latter rain; so the LORD shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field. – Zechariah 10:1

Read: (1 Kings 18:41-45 KJV)

41 And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain.

45 And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel.

There is a point in the life of every child of God when the appointed time for the fulfilment of a divine promise arrives. We know as a matter of fact that the word of God is yea and amen. We believe that His word is settled in heaven. We are also certain that heaven and earth may pass away but a dot in His word will not pass away unfulfilled. Nevertheless, as the time of fulfilment of a major prophecy approaches, we may become overwhelmed with suspense and anxiety.

This seems to the case of Elijah in today’s reading. Three years before, the prophet had authoritatively declared to king Ahab that there will be no dew nor rain in the land of Israel, except by his word (1 Kings 17:1). Within the three years following that event, God had answered his various requests, and the victory over the prophets of Baal was still fresh in his mind. Yet he knew that if God should send rain at his word, It would be a great accomplishment and the crowning point of his life. It was with this feeling that Elijah approached Mount Carmel for the manifestation of the power of God on the back of God’s promise.

There are important lessons to be learnt from the way the prophet handled the situation. First, he exhibited his faith in the Word of God by confidently giving Ahab the assurance to go and start celebrating the coming of the rain. Next is the prophet’s attitude to prayer. He decided to put his faith into action through fervent prayers. He was not tempted to leave God to fulfil His own promise.

Thirdly, the sound of abundant rain must have been a sign from God to the prophet, because others could not hear it. He received it with joy as a token that his prayer would be answered, and he announced it to the world by faith. The fourth lesson is that, even though his servant told him “there is nothing” six times, he did not allow discouragement to set in. He knew what God told him, and he held onto it tenaciously. Finally, Prophet Elijah persevered in the place of prayer. He said to his servant “go again”, seven times. He continued to watch and pray and finally, there was a great rain. As you tarry in the place of prayer this year, the Lord will answer all your request by fire in Jesus’ Name. Always remember this:
“For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.” Habakkuk 2:3
Prayer Point: Father, please let every prophecy and divine promise for my life begin to find fulfilment now in the Name of Jesus.

Bible in One Year: Jeremiah 43-44 and Acts 24:1-21

Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.
1 Corinthians 4:2

Read: Luke 12:37-38
37 Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.
38 And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.

A Christian worker is a born-again child of God; a steward who has been entrusted with the careful use, control and management of kingdom resources and possessions. The teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ on stewardship emphasised two things that are important: responsibility and accountability. Jesus speaking on responsibility in Luke 12:48 said:

“But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.”

According to Revelation 4:11, God created man and everything else for His pleasure. Individuals are therefore accountable for their God-given physical and spiritual endowments. Christians are also responsible for whatever is put in their care. The gifts and talents in our lives are to be used profitably for the expansion of the kingdom of God. The Bible further states in Romans 14:12 that every one of us shall give account of himself to God, and in Romans 2:6 that God will render to every man according to his deeds. Consequently, every Christian worker is accountable to God. The Bible also admonishes us not to neglect our gifts but to develop and polish them.

“Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.”
1 Timothy 4:14

Christians are to be wise stewards of their God-given gifts, talents and abilities. They are to serve with humility, total submission to authority and in the fear of God. They are to serve with gratitude to God and for the benefit of others. Christian workers in whatever department should not view the work of God as an opportunity to make money. The work should not be done with eye-service but as unto the Lord, who will faithfully reward those who diligently serve Him. Finally, whatever your hands find to do, do it with all your might (Ecclesiastes 9:10), and don’t be slothful in God’s business, but rather be fervent in your physical and spiritual service to God (Romans 12:11). I pray that as you work fervently for God this year, He will reward you accordingly in Jesus’ Name.

Prayer Point:
Father, please let the cup of my physical and spiritual blessings overflow this year in the Name of Jesus.

RCCG OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL Date: Monday February 9, 2015 Title: Divine Royalty

Title: Divine Royalty

Memorise: And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. – Revelation 1:6
Bible Reading: (1 Samuel 16:1, 11-13 KJV)
Bible in one Year: Jeremiah 37:11-39:18 Acts 22:30-23:11

Prior to the anointing of David as King of Israel in 1 Samuel 16:11-13, he was ordinary like any other person. But after the anointing came on him, he received supernatural grace to accomplish great things for God. The choice of David was neither an accident nor coincidence. In 1 Samuel 13:14. The Bible says this concerning him:

‘…. The LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart…’

This reveals that there was a solemn search that led God to David in the wilderness, Also, in 1 Samuel 16:7, God said:

‘… for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.’

It is therefore clear that qualification for divine royalty strictly depends on the condition of a person’s heart towards God.

Divine royalty put a fellow in the position of authority over all circumstances of life. At the command of a ‘ divine royal’ sickness , poverty, failure and the demons behind them must bow. The authority, responsibilities and honour attached to divine royalty suggest that a heart focused on God is necessary to be eligible for such high honour and glory. The title ‘Divine Royalty ‘ is therefore strictly reserved for a born- again and sanctified children of God. To this end , Daniel 7:18 reveals that the saints of God shall take and posses the kingdom forever and ever.

‘But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:’ 1 Peter 2:9

One thing is sure: a person can only manifest the status of divine royalty if and only if the anointing continues to rest upon him or her. We must note that there are things divine royals cannot do and certain types of relationships they cannot keep. 1 Corinthians 10:22 says :

‘All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.’

As you begin to live according to the high standard of heaven in agreement with the Word of God, may the anointing for divine royalty fall upon you today in the Name of Jesus. Amen.

Action Point:
You are a divine royal and a member of God’s royal priesthood; ask for grace to live up to expectation today.

Memorise: Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgement. Ecclesiastes 11:9
Bible Reading: Ecclesiastes 12:1-7
Bible in one year: Jeremiah 35:1-37:10, Acts 22:12-29

Remembrance is the act of keeping a subject matter in mind for attention or consideration. It implies a bringing back to memory of what has been lost, forgotten or overlooked. A call to remember a subject matter is a call for timely action that carries a strong warning with it. In Ecclesiastes 12:1, the power of the word “remember” is further amplified by the word “now” which follows it. “Remember now” is a command and a strong warning that conveys a need for urgent action.

Children of God must remember that every kingdom responsibility and assignment is time-bound. Time is of essence, it is more precious than money and it waits for no one. We don’t have the luxury of controlling time. When a required action is not taken on time, it passes by and the opportunity is lost. I pray that you will recover every lost opportunity in your life in Jesus’ Name. In 1st Samuel 25:18, Abigail saved herself and her whole family from destruction because she made haste to take remedial action on an explosive issue. David was able to overcome Goliath completely in 1st Samuel 17:48-51 because of his quick action. Also, when the conspiracy of Absalom got to the knowledge of David, he and his allies were saved because he made haste to depart from Jerusalem.

“And David said unto all his servants that were with him at Jerusalem, Arise, and let us flee; for we shall not else escape from Absalom: make speed to depart, lest he overtake us suddenly, and bring evil upon us, and smite the city with the edge of the sword.” 2nd Samuel 15:14

2nd Corinthians 6:2 says that now is the accepted time and that is the day of salvation. The acceptable time for repentance and holy living is set for now. There is no room for procrastination anymore. Now is the time for soul-winning, bearing fruits of righteousness and living a victorious life over sin, sickness, poverty and failure. It is time to overflow with peace, joy, success, abundant blessings and the anointing of the Most High God.

Prayer Point:
Father, please destroy the power of procrastination in my life, and let my time for overflowing blessings come now in the Name of Jesus.

Memorise: Lo, children are the heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. Psalm 127:3
Bible Reading: 127:3-5
Bible in one year: Jeremiah 33-34, Acts 21:37-22:11

The word ‘heritage’ can refer to a cherished property or inheritance of special architectural, historical or natural value preserved from past generations. It can also refer to an asset of monumental value. It reveals the sense of history, strength, personality, character, importance, authority and self-worth of a people or nation. God commended Israel to document historical events, covenants, laws and commandments that formed part of their heritage in order to preserve them forever. The heritage of the Lord is therefore something of inestimable value that needs to be protected and watched over with all diligence.

In the beginning, God created man in His own image and for His own pleasure. Down the line, humanity fell and became enslaved to sin. God then approached the slaved market and repurchased us by offering the precious blood of His Son, Jesus, as the ransom. By this heavy investment, God secured

a double claim of ownership over man: first, as the beautiful work of His hands, and secondly as adopted children brought with the precious blood of Jesus. Little wonder the Bible in Psalm 127:3 refers to children as the heritage of the Lord. Apart from children, the Bible also speaks of people who identify with the Living God, such as the nation of Israel and the body of Christ (the Church), as the heritage of the Lord.

The realisation that children are the heritage of the Lord should stir up a sense of gratitude and a sense of responsibility in any serious Christian parent. Children must be thankfully received as precious gifts from God. A sacred charge is laid upon every parent to diligently nurture and train the children in the way they should go, so that when they are old, they will not depart from it. The desire and prayer of every Christian parent should be that God will grant them the grace to fulfil this solemn responsibility.

In psalm 127:4, children are compared to arrows in the hands of a mighty man. It is a known fact well-designed, highly refined and balanced arrows and dangerous weapons in the hand of warriors. In like manner, well trained children are powerful weapons. In like manner, well trained children are powerful weapons to their parents and the Church of God. They are the future of their families, the light of the world and the hope of the Church. They should therefore be carefully instructed and nourished up in the faith.

Prayer Point:
Father, please help us to successful train our children in the line with your word, and let your light shine so brought in our children in this generation.

Memorise: Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Psalm 103:1

Bible Reading: 1st Samuel 2:1-2

Bible in one year: Jeremiah 31:31-32:44, Acts 21:17-36

The word “horn” is used both literally and symbolically in the Bible. It is used to describe the keratin-based growth on the head of animals. The horn of dead animals is sometimes converted to musical instruments or used as vessel for anointing oil. However, the horn has significant metaphorical meanings. It is a symbol of power, help, victory or glory. To lift up the horn connotes success, while a broken horn denotes defeat. It is with this understanding that Hannah rejoiced in the Lord by saying my horn is exalted in the Lord. May the Name of the Lord be praised and exalted for evermore in Jesus’ Name. As you meditate on the word of the Lord today, your horn shall be exalted in Jesus’ Name.

Exaltation has a spiritual connotation. It means to glorify, lift high, promote or raise a person to a higher status or position. It therefore follows that exaltation is of the Lord and only God and God alone is worthy of exaltation. However, Hannah said “my horn is exalted in the Lord”. Psalm 75:6-7 also says,

“For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.”

This means that God can choose to exalt a person. In the Bible, we see some beneficiaries of the special grace and mercy of God in this regard. They include Abraham, Joseph, Hannah, Moses, Joshua, David and Solomon.

God caused Joshua to be exalted in Joshua 3:7:

“And the Lord said unto Joshua, This day will I begin to magnify thee in the sight of all Israel, that they know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee.”

This same God is still alive today; He doesn’t change. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. Today, He will visit you with His love, mercy and favour. The Bible in Psalm 75:10 says,

“All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.”

Because you are made righteous by the blood of Jesus, you are a special candidate for exaltation. Your horn shall be exalted in the mighty Name of Jesus.

Action Point:
Learn humility. Humility leads to exaltation.

Memorise: And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. Mark 4:39
Bible Reading: Genesis 21:5-7
Bible in one year: Jeremiah 30:1-31:30, Acts 20:36-21:16

An unprecedented event is an extraordinary occurrence that was never known or experienced before. It’s something of monumental importance happening for the very first time. Unprecedented events are very rare, but I pray that you will soon testify to an unprecedented blessing in your life in Jesus’ Name. The Bible records so many unprecedented events in its pages from Genesis to Revelation. Notable among those are Noah and the deluge (Genesis 7), the deliverance of the Israelites at the Red Sea (Exodus 14), the sun standing still over Gibeon and the moon staying in the valley of Ajalon (Joshua 10:12-13), the virgin birth of Jesus, the raising of Lazarus from the dead after four days (John 11) and the resurrection of Jesus (Mark 16:9-10), to mention but a few.

Unprecedented events are usually in the realm of the miraculous. God in His infinite mercy always designs these supernatural events to meet human needs and solve our problems. Such miracles include divine provision, deliverance, divine healing, raising of the dead, miraculous birth etc, and usually bring about disbelief, laughter, astonishment, singing, dancing, amazement , great fear, thanksgiving and celebration. Very soon, God will do something in your life that will amaze your detractors and cause you to celebration in Jesus’ Name.

In Genesis 22:16, Abraham’s actions caught God’s attention and called for a special blessing.

“And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:”

Its easy to see that beneficiaries of unprecedented events are history makers. A close look at each of these characters, from Noah to Abraham, Moses, Joseph, Joshua, David, Solomon, Elijah, Daniel, Esther, John, Peter, Paul and our Lord Jesus, to mention but few, reveals a common pattern in their lives. Every one of them exhibited uncommon pattern in their lives. Everyone of them exhibited uncommon faith, humility and obedience that moved God to arise on their behalf. God considered them fit for such miracles because they tried to do what nobody had done before. If you are looking forward to receiving an unprecedented miracle in your life., you must be prepared to outdo others in your commitment to God, in total submission, obedience, soul-winning , sacrificial giving, faith and true worship.

Prayer Point:
Father, please give me the grace to do something great that will call for an unprecedented blessing in my life in Jesus Name.

Memorise: Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. John 20:29
Bible Reading: John 11:43-45
Bible in one year: Jeremiah 28-29, Acts 20:17-35

A miracle can be defined as an extraordinary event or development that is inexplicable by natural or scientific laws and is attributed to divine agency. Miracles defy natural and scientific laws because such laws are in suspension or overridden supernaturally for a miracle to take place. The question then is: why will God go to such great lengths to perform a miracle? I pray that God will go to any length to give your desired miracle today in the Name of Jesus.

The Bible offers many reasons as to why God would go the extra mile to perform miracles. God performs miracles so that people may believe in Him (Exodus 4:1-9). In some cases, He performs miracles out of love and compassion for human suffering (Luke 7:11-15). Sometimes it is to authenticate a prophet as a true servant of God (Acts 2:22). Some other reasons for miracles, common to most of the records of the miraculous in the Bible include: strong faith in God, hopelessness, helplessness and desperation. If you are desperate for a miracle because your case is hopelessly helpless, the Almighty God will rise on your behalf and give you a mighty miracle today in the Name of Jesus. Miracles are real, and genuine miracles are Biblical. As a matter of fact, so many human conditions are beyond natural and scientific solutions; these are distinct situations for divine intervention. We thank God that numerous creative miracles (of which some testimonies are incredible) have been happening by His special grace in our ministry as we travel across the globe over the years. So, no matter how hopeless your situation is, all you need to pick-up your own miracle is to have a good reason why God should visit your case.

If you can take the first step by becoming born-again, you would have won the love and compassion of God. If you fellow that up with total obedience to the word of God and strong faith in the Name of Jesus, your case becomes stronger. If you will dare to become a witness for Jesus, telling everyone around you of His love, goodness and mercy, then your case becomes very strong. Finally, if you would continuously knock on the door of heaven through your fervent players, you automatically become a sure candidate for a miracle. As you fellow these steps to build a strong case or reason for a miracle, the Lord will notice your efforts, accept your person, open a book of remembrance on your case and give you a creative miracle in Jesus’ Name.

Prayer Point:
Father, please settle my case today; visit me with a divine miracle in Jesus’ Name.

He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 3:18

READ: Romans 8:31-39
31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth.
34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Whenever I ruminate over the many-sided blessings embedded in the Good News that came through our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, my heart is filled with great joy. I equally find it fascinating that no elaborate process involving complexities is required for us to access these blessings. Jesus did the hard work and made things simple for us. One of such blessings is freedom from condemnation. The righteous judgment of God against sin has brought all of mankind under condemnation. This is the reason why no man can escape the pain of guilt that results from sin, or the consequences that follow it. Romans 3:23 says,

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God,”

Romans 6:23 further says,
“For the wages of sin is death,”

However, the Good News is that Jesus Christ gives us freedom from the condemnation that had put a seal on the destiny of all mankind. In Romans 8:1, this Good News says,

“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”

Those who are in Christ Jesus can now live a life free from guilt of sin or the feeling of inadequacy resulting from past misdeeds. Their conscience is liberated from condemnation because they know their sins have been washed away by the precious blood of Jesus (Revelation 1:5). What does it take to access this blessings of freedom? Only Believe! Believe in the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ, believe He is who He says He is, and believe in the work of salvation He has completed. How do you know you truly believe all these? When your actions and confessions reflect what you claim to believe, that is when you truly believe.

Another blessing of the Good News that you can have access to by faith is the truth that Jesus Christ, though rich, became poor, so that through His poverty, you might be rich (2 Corinthians 8:9). Your faith in this article of the Good News will prevent you from doing diabolical or criminal things to get rich, because you know that your prosperity lies in the sacrificial life that the Master has lived. Believing in the words and works of Jesus gives us contentment, the absence of which brings many sorrows to those who want to be rich by any means (1 Timothy 6:6-10). Beloved, do you believe all these? If you do, live your life by the ideas of the Good News of the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will forever be free from condemnation, now and in eternity.

Father, please help me to live according to Your will, so that I may not be condemned with this world. Grant me grace not to lose sight of the words and works of Jesus. Amen.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Genesis 8-10 and Revelation 3:7-22

And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.
Joel 2:32

READ: Revelation 21:1-7
1. And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
2. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
4. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
5. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
6. And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
7. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

Since the advent of sin into this world, life has become a battle for mankind. In the battle of life, one is either an overcomer or a victim. My prayer for you is that you will live the rest of your life as an overcomer in Jesus’ Name. Today’s memory verse expressly reveals to us the secret of overcoming in the battle of life:

“…whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered:”

However, the truth in this verse of scripture throws up this question:

“How then shall they call on him whom they have not believed?” Romans 10:14

Therefore, before you can overcome by calling on the Name of the Lord, you need to first believe in the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ and in His finished work on the cross of Calvary. When you believe this and you confess so with your mouth, you become “born of God”. Here is what the Bible, in 1 John 5:4-5, says about those who are born of God:

“For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?”

Living the reality of being an overcomer in this world means that you daily experience the victory that Christ has obtained for you over the enemies of your body, soul and spirit. It means living your life everyday as having been delivered from the power of sin, and when you overcome sin, you have invariably overcome death, which is at the pinnacle of the battle of life. James 1:15 says,

“Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.”

Are you under any siege in the battle of life? Has life dealt you so many blows that you do not have the will to go on? Don’t give in to depression, and don’t contemplate suicide. This is a great time for you to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, through genuine repentance. In prayer, call upon the Name of Him That is able to save, and you will overcome! Are you saved but still living under the shackles of this world? It is time to realise who you are, shake yourself up from the dust of pity and begin to enforce the victory that Christ has won for you!

Call on the Name of the Lord convening any area of life where you have been experiencing defeat.

12 And Moses said unto the LORD, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight.
13 Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people.
14 And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.
15 And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence.
16 For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.
17 And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.

Only a fool would think that he or she can exist independent of God, who is the Maker of the heavens and the earth and all that is in them (Romans 1:20-22). Moses, the servant of God, knew this and he consequently did not make the mistake of doing anything without God’s approval. In today’s Bible reading, he insisted on the presence of God going with them as they journeyed through the wilderness to the Promised Land.

There is this story of three fishes in the sea living under the threat of sharks. They went to the Almighty God to ask for help concerning the danger of death looming over them.
The first fish asked God for many eyes so that it could see sharks approaching from any direction and escape to safety. The second fish demanded for wings so that it could fly away from the reach of sharks whenever they came after it. The third fish only asked for the presence of the Almighty God wherever it went. The Lord granted all their requests, and they swam away happily. Not long after, sharks came after the first fish, and immediately with its many eyes, it saw them coming! It took a jump into a nearby pond where the sharks could not go and began to laugh at the sharks. However, the water in the pond soon began to dry up and this fish died. The second fish also saw sharks coming for it, because it had been granted wings, it flew like a bird out of the water, but only to be caught in the air by an eagle flying by. So, the second fish ended up in the stomach of an eagle, which was happily surprised to have a delicious fish as its mid-flight meal. In contrast to these, the third fish, which had wisely requested the presence of the Lord, went swimming about without any fear of death from ferocious sharks. It was basking in the protection that comes with carrying the presence of the Lord. When the mother-shark would not go after it, the baby-shark asked its mother, “Why don’t we eat this beautiful fish?” The mother-shark cautioned it against entertaining such ideas, pointing to the shadow of the Almighty God following the fish everywhere.

Beloved, all that you need to succeed and have breakthroughs this year is God’s Presence in your life. I therefore encourage you to give your life totally to God through Jesus Christ. For His Presence to envelope your life, you need to walk daily with Him by fellowshipping with Him in the place of prayer and worship, and by framing your every thought around His Word. If you are faithful in doing this, He will abide with you, and you will live in safety throughout this year and beyond (Psalm 91:1-2).

Key Point:
The God that creates is the One that prospers, and He is the One that protects. Seek and ask for His Presence in all that you do from today.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Genesis 3-4 and Revelation 2:1-17

Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.
Psalm 103:2

READ: Psalm 150:1-6
1 Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.
2 Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.
3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.
4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.
5 Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.
6 Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.

King Hezekiah declared a profound truth when he testified that only the living can praise the Lord (Isaiah 38:19). Children of God, as living spirits, we have many reasons to be thankful for. Whenever I consider the loving-kindness of God and His tender mercies, demonstrated through protection, providence, love, forgiveness, healing, good health and, above all else, salvation of the soul, I always come to the conclusion that indeed the Lord has been very gracious to His children. No wonder the Holy Spirit, in Psalm 150:2, succinctly instructed us to:

“Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.”

This is so important that in Psalm 103:1-5, David counsels his own soul to bless the Lord in thanksgiving, admonishing himself not to forget anyone of God’s benefits. In other words, there is a tendency for us to forget all that the Lord has done for us. Nevertheless, we have no reason to be ungrateful to God, because His goodness forever flows to us. The prophet Jeremiah testifies of this truth in Lamentations 3:22-23, saying:

“It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”

Moreover, what is our joy as children of God? It is the assurance of a better tomorrow: the assurance of a better year ahead of us. Only those who are saved by the grace that is in Christ Jesus have this assurance. Declaring this assurance, the Holy Spirit in Isaiah 3:10 says,

“Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.”

Who is the righteous? The righteous is the one who has accepted Jesus Christ as his or her personal Lord and Saviour. The righteousness of Christ is bestowed upon such people because they believe and have appropriated the ransom paid on their behalf by the Lord Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God who took away the sins of the world (John 1:29). God is saying to you that you shall be grateful to Him for all He has done for you in the past, particularly in the just concluded year. If you remain thankful, your tank of blessings shall be full as you go into the New Year. However, not giving your life to the One who paid the supreme price for your salvation is the greatest form of ingratitude. Therefore, repent and give your life to Christ today! He will be your Shepherd and you shall want nothing throughout the New Year and in the years to come. Hallelujah! (Happy New Year!!!)

Thank God for all His goodness and mercies over your life in the past; give your life to Him afresh and renew your commitment to serve Him in holiness and perfect obedience in this New Year.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Genesis 1-2
Revelation 1

“He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.”
Proverbs 10:5

READ: Genesis 3:7-10
7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
8 And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden.
9 And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

Although God is much very willing to help you, before you can receive help from Him, you have to first settle the issue of your spiritual location. In today’s Bible reading, when God came visiting Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden, and He did not find them where he expected them to be, He made a passionate call to them saying: “Adam, where are you?” If God will help you, He needs to know where you are. Do you want God’s help today? If yes, where are you standing presently? Are you where you were at the beginning of the year? Are you stagnant, unproductive, unprofitable, and not making progress? In the parable of the talents, the fellow who received one talent proved to be unproductive (Matthew 25:24-30). That is however not God’s expectation of you. Some people are unproductive because they do the right thing at the wrong time. Proverbs 10:5 says,

“He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.”

There is a time for everything. There is a time to work and a time to rest. Rest follows work and not the other way round. Today, quite a number of people unfortunately go on vacations even though they have not worked. Rest is earned. If you rest without deserving it, you will be showing to the whole world how unwise you really are. When many children of affluent people, who never worked one day to earn an income, are bequeathed with great wealth, the next thing they think of doing is how to go on a spending spree of the funds they never worked for.
Beloved, where is your present location? If you are located in laziness, disobedience, self-will or unforgiveness, receiving help from God may be a mirage. If you are sleeping when you should be actively engaged for the Master, you are a shame to the Body of Christ. The harvest of this world is already ripe and gradually becoming overripe. This is harvest time. How many souls did you personally win to Christ this year? Is there any significant improvement to your life compared to last year or have you lost further grounds to laziness, procrastination and idleness? Can you say you are experiencing progress? Movement can be sideways, forward or backward. May you never go backward in Jesus’ Name! Consider your location and take appropriate steps so that you can receive God’s help this season.

Before asking God for anything make sure you are not located in disobedience or unbelief.

A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
Ecclesiastes 3:4

READ: James 5:1-6
1 Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.
2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth eaten.
3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.
4 Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.
5 Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.
6 Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you.

“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:” Ecclesiastes3:1

It is clear from the above scripture that in God’s timetable, there is a time for everything. Life is split into different seasons. There is a time to weep and a time to laugh; there is also a time to mourn and a time to dance (Ecclesiastics 3:4). One lesson here is that every man is expected to go through the ups and downs of life. In order words, if you go through a weeping season, you will equally go through a laughing season. If you have experienced a season of mourning, you will also experience a season of dancing. However, if all you experience is the down seasons, something is most likely wrong somewhere. The forces of darkness, together with their human agents, often do what they can to manipulate their victims so that they never experience the good seasons of life. Every evil plot against you that is geared towards separating you from your good seasons shall come to naught in Jesus’ Name!

“But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.” Luke 16:25

In Luke 16:19-31, the Lord told the story of a rich man and a certain beggar named Lazarus. These two characters experienced different seasons on earth that contrasted greatly with the seasons they found themselves eternally living in after they died. While the rich man enjoyed a good season on earth, he found himself in an unending season of torment in eternity. On the other hand, Lazarus experienced very bad seasons while on earth, but he found himself enjoying an unending season of joy in eternity. One crucial lesson here is that if your stay on earth is just to enjoy yourself without giving consideration to having a good relationship with God, be prepared to spend an eternity without God. If you live life without Christ, you will live an eternity separated from God. In other words, how you live today will determine the permanent season you will experience in eternity. What season are you bringing upon yourself for eternity? In our Bible reading, rich men living in so much affluence and engaging in the excesses of the rich were asked to mourn over the evil season that would befall them in time to come. Are you going through a bad season in life? You shall soon enter a new season of joy in Jesus’ Name. If you are in Christ, that season of joy will led to a permanent season of joy in eternity. Thank God for your new season of joy. Hallelujah!

Take stock of the high and low points in your life this year. What could you have done differently to avoid some of the low points?

Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;
Ephesians 6:6

READ: Ephesians 6:5-8
5 Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;
6 Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;
7 With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:
8 Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.

“For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.” Galatians 1:10

God’s expectation concerning your service towards His Kingdom and your service in your workplace is that in both cases, you serve with the mindset of one serving God and not man. He expects you to render excellent service and to serve without hypocrisy. One mark of hypocritical service is the desire to please men rather than God. A hypocritical worker is more concerned about entering and remaining in the good books of his or her superiors but really does not care whether God is pleased or not. You will commonly find eye-service in such people. Eye-service is service rendered only when the employer is watching. Eye-service is unacceptable to God, especially in His vineyard, and for this reason, the Holy Spirit warns us against it in Ephesian 6:6 saying,

“Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;”

In the sight of God, a fellow given to eye-service is a hypocrite. When such people do some work for God, it is not from their heart. They are not bothered about the work being done in line with God’s will. All they are concerned about is being seen to be ‘doing something’ by their superiors. They love to be praised by their pastor or superior as being dutiful, diligent and supportive, but is that the record that God has of them?
If you love the praise of men more than the commendation of God, you do not yet know what it is to serve the Lord. The truth is, work or service rendered with eye-service will definitely miss heaven’s mark, and runs the risk of losing heaven’s rewards! How faithful are you to God and His work? Also, how faithful are you to your employer and the objectives of your job? Eye-service is characterized by deception, lies and pretense. If you work in this way, your service is unto the leader whose favour you seek and not unto Christ. You cannot serve Jesus Christ and still have the target to please men. Colossians 3:22 says your service should be backed by the fear of God. If you truly love and fear God, you will serve Him and do whatever He asks you to do, whether your superiors are there or not. If you still see traces of eye-service in your life, repent and turn a new leaf today.

Father, deliver your Church from eye-service and inspire us to serve you truly.

Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.
1 Corinthians 7:2

READ: 1 Corinthians 7:1-9
1 Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.
2 Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.
3 Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband.
4 The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.
5 Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.
6 But I speak this by permission, and not of commandment.
7 For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that.
8 I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, it is good for them if they abide even as I.
9 But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.

Yesterday, the Lord spoke to us about His intention for Christian homes not just to add to the population of the earth through procreation, but to produce children that meet heaven’s specification of godly seed, who will represent God everywhere they go and obey Him to the letter. May your home produce such godly seed in Jesus’ Name! Another reason why God established the institution of marriage is to prevent fornication. 1 Corinthians 7:2 says,

“Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.”

This scripture speaks of the need for husband and wife to be intimate so as not to fall into the pit of sexual immorality. It is common in some homes today for the wife to deny her husband of intimacy just because he has not fulfilled certain requests she made, or for the husband to deny his wife intimacy because he is not happy with her. This is at variance with God’s expectations and an abuse of the purpose of sexual intimacy. It is wrong to use sex as a tool for punishing your spouse. People should learn to isolate issues and not mix them up. Neither the husband nor the wife has the power to deny sexual intimacy except it is a temporal arrangement, for the purpose of prayer and fasting, and this must be by mutual consent. Denial of sexual intimacy is viewed as fraud from God’s perspective (1 Corinthians 7:4-5).
Both the wife and the husband should strive towards fulfilling the godly sexual desires of their spouse. This is necessary because it is one way the couple will be protected from the hawks outside their home. It is only a foolish woman who will give conditions for intimacy. When you starve your spouse of intimacy, you expose him to external dangers and temptations. Some women who are married to pastors and ministers of God take it for granted that their husband can never go out of their matrimonial homes, and as a result they begin to deny them sexual intimacy at will. Going by recent realities, such women may get the shock of their lives! There are those who use spirituality as basis for starving their spouse. I don’t suppose such people can be more spiritual than Apostle Paul, who wrote the admonition in 1 Corinthian 7:4-5. Some of these people are almost always fasting and praying. Please control your fast before you cause irreparable damage to your home.

Father, uproot every spirit of immorality causing married people in my local assembly to be unfaithful to their spouses.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Ecclesiastes 4-7
Malachi 1

And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.
Malachi 2:15

READ: Malachi 2:14-15
14 Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the Lord hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.
15 And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.

Marriage between a man and a woman is approved by God. Besides companionship and receiving a life-time helper, another reason why God established marriage is for the continuity of the human race. Genesis 1:28 says,

“And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”

After creation, God blessed man to be fruitful, to multiply and refill the earth. Similarly, in Genesis 9:1, after the great flood that wiped out all of mankind except Noah and his family, God pronounced the same blessing on them. Beloved, God loves fruitfulness, and that is one reason why He instituted marriage. He wants the human race to multiply and spread all over the earth. His desire is for the earth to be subdued and dominated by man whom He has created in His own image. However, this does not justify raising a family without planning for it. If you are married, you and your spouse should prayerfully decide how many children you would add to populate the earth. Never bring children you are not able or prepared to take care of into this world.
While God wants all of mankind to multiply, He particularly wants those who are His own to bring forth godly seeds. In order words, while regular inhabitants of the earth are reproducing and adding to the world’s general population, believers are expected to raise godly seeds that would later reach out to the rest of the world. In today’s Bible reading, the Lord plainly stated that He allowed His children to marry so as to produce special children: a godly breed. God wants children who meet ‘heaven’s specifications’ from the homes of His people. Can He say that He has found them in your own home? Not every Christian family can raise these special breed of children, even though they have the potential to. It takes a deliberate collaborative effort between the Holy Spirit and parents to raise children who meet God’s specification of a godly seed. These are heaven-bound children who will walk closely with the Holy Spirit in their lifetime. Their foundations are laid in God’s word and doctrine. They are grounded in the knowledge of God and are carriers of His light. May God help us raise godly seed for His glory in Jesus’ Name.

Christian couples should not just trust God for babies but for godly seeds.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Ecclesiastes 1-3
Zachariah 14:10-21

The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
Proverbs 31:11

READ: Proverbs 18:22-24
22 Whosoever findeth a wife findeth a good thing and obtaineth the favour of the Lord.
23 The poor useth entreaties, but the rich answereth roughly.
24 A man that hath friends must show himself friendly, and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.

On the 23rd of this month, the Lord took us to the beginning of His creation to learn that companionship is one major reason why He established the institution of marriage (Genesis 2:18). God does not want adults to be alone. After marriage, some people refuse to stay in the company of their spouse, giving excuse such as not being “compatible” with their spouse. If you knew you were not compatible with your spouse, why did you venture into marriage with him or her in the first place? Sometimes, the untold underlying reason behind this incompatibility is the gap in educational qualifications, social status or financial power of the couple. In such case, God expects that the one in the advantage position in the relationship would assist the other to climb up until the gap is bridged. Your wife is your number-one companion. Some men are always in the company of other women. This is a violation of God’s law on companionship.
Moreover, another reason why God established marriage is to raise a permanent helper for the man and vice versa. The term “help meet” used in Genesis 2:18 refers to adequate and appropriate help. In other words, if you obtain your wife or husband from God, you can be assured that God has given you an appropriate destiny helper. Do you know that the fortunes of some people improve tremendously after marriage? Adam could say he had a helpmate because Eve was the bone of his bone, and the flesh of his flesh (Genesis 2:21-23). If you marry the right woman God has for you, favour will suddenly reside in your home (Proverbs 18:22). She will prevent waste of resources in your home and load you with good throughout your lifetime (Proverbs 31:11). This also applies to a woman who marries the right husband. For this reason, it is very important to go to God for your spouse, like Adam received Eve from God. If you get a spouse from God as His child, it enhances your prospects of making Heaven (1 Kings 21:25). However, if you get your spouse from friends, relations, computerized match-making services, date clubs, or by your own self will, you may be getting a destroyer instead of a helper. When you have the right man as a husband, he will be a crown over you and help you become what God has in store for you. Help is reciprocal. The reason why some people were plunged into ‘hell” from the day their marriage started is because they refused to go to the Creator for Him to help them take that crucial decision that has the potential of determining lives and destinies.

To make the right decision on who to marry, go to the Creator of all men for help, and He will surely lead you to the right person for you. He knows all people and the contents of their hearts.
